Political Correctness Reigns at Justice Department

August 22, 2012

Thanks to NewsBusters for bringing this to our attention. I haven’t verified this, so one can hope this is a joke and not real, but it sounds strange enough to be true – especially since the Holder Justice Department is very strange. Read it at your own risk of sanity.

From the PJ Tatler

The PJ Tatler has obtained documents from the Justice Department detailing efforts to recruit attorneys and staff who are dwarfs or who have “psychiatric disabilities” or “severe intellectual disabilities”… Assistant Attorney General Tom Perez issued a directive to affirmatively recruit people with these “targeted disabilities”…

This DOJ policy does not merely involve prohibitions against discrimination, but rather the documents reveal deliberate recruitment efforts to hire as attorneys and staff for the Department of Justice people suffering from psychiatric disorders and intellectual disabilities.  Moreover, applicants can “self-identify” their disability…Those with “targeted disabilities” may be hired through a “non-competitive” appointment. That means they don’t have to endure the regular civil service competition among applicants, but can be plucked from the stack of resumes and hired immediately instead…“targeted disabilities” may be hired “before the position is advertised” and even “before the position’s closing date”… lawyers with psychiatric disabilities and “severe intellectual” disabilities receive a waiver from the requirement that a new DOJ employee have practiced law for one year before being hired.

Uh-Oh. Looks Like the White House Knew about Fast & Furious

July 27, 2011

Oh, boy. The Weekly Standard is reporting that the White House knew about the gun-running fiasco Fast & Furious as early as September 2010.

Things are getting more and more interesting. Could the administration be running around about the debt ceiling to keep the attention off of this major problem for them?

Here’s a link to the Weekly Standard story: Bombshell: White House Knew About ATF Gunrunning Scandal

Update: Here’s Heritage Foundation info about Fast and Furious: Former ATF Official Admits Bureau Allowed Guns into Mexico

It’s About Time

July 27, 2011

Uh, Oh. The administration is in trouble now.

CBS Evening News has turned it’s attention to “Fast and Furious,” the administration’s super sneaky plan to allow gun runners to get guns into Mexico so that the administration could prove how dangerous our gun laws are.

It seems to me it proves how dangerous this administration is, but whatever.

Anyway, after weeks of investigation by Darrell Issa and his Congressional Oversight Committee, CBS has finally caught on.

Look out. After years of looking the other way, the main stream media is going to attempt to do its job.

See the CBS story here.

The Administration’s “Fast & Furious” Problem

July 14, 2011

Why don’t you see anything about Fast & Furious in the main stream media? Are they still so in the tank for this president that they aren’t willing to pursue a bigger scandal than Watergate?

From the Washington Times:

The Justice Department’s effort to contain the Operation Fast and Furious gunrunning scandal is crumbling. Members of Congress are demanding full disclosure regarding the bizarre scheme to funnel guns to Mexican drug cartels, supposedly to help sniff out the higher-level bad guys. Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. isn’t helping congressional investigators understand the rationale behind this breathtakingly dumb idea.

The so-called Fast and Furious program fit right in with the White Housecontention that gun shops in the Southwest have been contributing to violence in Mexico. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), part of the Justice Department, started the operation as a sting to arrest purchasers in border states who purportedly were engaging in illegal cross-border arms trafficking. The scheme spun out of control, and the agency reportedly wound up telling gun dealers to proceed with sales even after dealers had raised red flags about certain buyers. In this way, the ATF may have become an accomplice to the smuggling of some 1,700 weapons into Mexico, allegedly leading to the death of U.S. Border Patrol agent Brian Terry near Nogales, Ariz., in December 2010. Two Fast and Furious weapons were discovered at that crime scene, and other such weapons have been found after the deaths of untold numbers of Mexican citizens.

Allen West Calls for Holder’s Resignation

July 10, 2011

Fast & Furious Troubles are Spreading.

Thank you Col. West!

From the Daily Caller:

Florida Republican Rep. Allen West is demanding that President Barack Obama force Attorney General Eric Holder to resign.

Appearing on Nashville radio host Steve Gill’s show last week, West said Obama would be “complicit” with what he sees as Justice Department attempts to slow down and avoid a congressional investigation into Operation Fast and Furious and Project Gunrunner if he didn’t push his attorney general to resign. “The president needs to realize that Eric Holder needs to be removed from the Department of Justice,” West said after detailing why he thinks Holder should appear before an investigative committee to testify about how the DOJ has handled its response to the Operation Fast and Furious investigation. “Or else I believe President Obama is complicit and he is in approval of the actions of his attorney general.”

Eric Holder’s Fantasy World

June 21, 2011

Attorney General Eric Holder continues to live in a personal fantasy world where his ideological notions reign supreme and, unfortunately, seep into his professional life. His latest nonsensical idea is that lawyers are America’s “most effective terror-fighting weapon.”

From The Daily Caller

Centrist and right-of-center national security experts reacted with contempt to Attorney General Eric Holder’s claim at a legal convention that the courts are the nation’s “most effective terror-fighting weapon.”

Holder’s declaration came in a Thursday speech to hundreds of progressive lawyers, advocates, judges and students gathered at the American Constitution Society’s annual gala…Holder called for an advocacy campaign that would give civil lawyers the lead role in the struggle against the jihadis…

Holder delivered his speech several months after Congress and public opinion defeated his two-year political campaigns to transfer five captured Al Qaeda leaders from the military’s legal commissions to the legal profession’s civilian courts, and to close the military’s Guantanamo Bay terrorist detention facility.

Eric Holder: Black Panther Case Focus Demeans “My People”

March 13, 2011

Not to be confused with “all people” who pay his salary.

From Politico:

Attorney General Eric Holder finally got fed up Tuesday with claims that the Justice Department went easy in a voting rights case against members of the New Black Panther Party because they are African American.

Holder’s frustration over the criticism became evident during a House Appropriations subcommittee hearing as Rep. John Culberson (R-Texas) accused the Justice Department of failing to cooperate with a Civil Rights Commission investigation into the handling of the 2008 incident in which Black Panthers in intimidating outfits and wielding a club stood outside a polling place in Philadelphia.

Eric Holder Plays the Race Card

March 2, 2011

When Rep. John Culberson (R-Texas) recently accused the Justice Department of failing to go after the Black Panthers accused of voter intimidation in Philadelphia because they were black, Attorney General Eric Holder refused to respond on point. Instead, he began a tirade against the pettiness of Culberson and others for continuing to treat the allegation as a serious offense.

It was former Democratic activist Bartle Bull’s assertion that the Philadelphia incident was the worst case of voter intimidation he had witnessed in his career that set Holder off. It caused Holder to rail against the comparison of the Philadelphia incident with what “his people” (an offensive choice of words) endured in the South during the 60’s.

Of course, Bull’s career doesn’t include those years and he wasn’t making that comparison. Nevertheless, Holder took the opportunity to lash out against how much of a disservice this was to those who put their lives on the line for “his people”, citing his late sister-in-law’s work on integration to make a point. The point, it seems, was to turn the discussion in a direction that did not include his department’s dereliction of duty.

This was nothing less than the race card being played by Holder. His comparison to civil rights abuses in the 60’s was meant to elicit sympathy and guilt in order to downplay the Black Panthers’ voter intimidation. The race card has been a means of ending debate, and Holder used it in a transparent attempt to end questioning of his department’s dubious decision.

Racism has been considered a one-way street far too long. The Justice Department under Holder is being accused of “reverse discrimination” for refusing to prosecute black offenders, but that is a misnomer. Discrimination is, or should be, color blind, making “reverse discrimination” a meaningless phrase.

Holder still has to respond to the accusations of systematic discrimination by the Department of Justice. Playing the race card does not get him off the hook and it does nothing to explain his decision not to defend the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA). Holder needs to eliminate race cards from his deck and show his hand. The game isn’t over.

Obama Justice Department Colluded with ACLU to Attack Arizona Bill???

January 28, 2011

From Judicial Watch’s website:

Judicial Watch, the public interest group that investigates and prosecutes government corruption, today announced that it has received documents from the Department of Justice (DOJ) that show DOJ worked hand-in-hand with the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) in mounting their respective legal challenges to SB 1070, Arizona’s get-tough illegal immigration law. The documents, obtained by Judicial Watch pursuant to a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request filed on June 17, 2010, include email exchanges between DOJ officials and ACLU staff.

(Judicial Watch represents Arizona State Senator Russell Pearce, author of SB 1070, in the Obama administration’s lawsuit challenging the Arizona law.)

Eric Holder is Dangerous

December 22, 2010

Politically correct Attorney General Eric Holder was interviewed by ABC News on the subject of terrorism. As astutely shown in an analysis from NewsBusters, he avoided using the words “Islam”, “Muslim”, “jihad”, “fundamentalist”, and “Hood” (as in Ft. Hood) throughout the entire interview. It is hard to imagine a serious discussion of terrorism that did not contain any of those words, but Holder made sure he did so.

This is the same Eric Holder who refused to prosecute Black Panthers for voter intimidation (caught on video tape) and wants to give terrorists civilian trials. The civilian trial acquittal of terrorist Ahmed Ghailani did nothing to dissuade Holder from his PC pursuits. He is now vigorously suing a school for refusing to give a Muslim teacher three weeks off during the school year, without pay, for a Muslim pilgrimage.

If he somehow manages to win that lawsuit, we will surely see Holder suing several school systems next year for refusing to hire Muslims as teachers. Who would hire a teacher knowing that, by law, they may need to bring in a substitute for at least three weeks? How does this help our children’s education? How would this even help Muslim teachers? How does this make us safer? It doesn’t, but Eric Holder cares more about being politically correct than anything else.

Holder made a fool of himself by criticizing Arizona’s new immigration law before even reading it. It was inevitable he would bring lawsuits against Arizona’s attempt to protect itself. He views immigration law enforcement as the federal government’s responsibility but suing sanctuary cities is not on his PC plate. Enforcing the federal government’s current immigration laws is also not on his PC plate.

Holder is under pressure because of allegations that the Civil Rights Division systematically refuses to prosecute any cases of racism against blacks. That, too, is steeped in PC ideology and mirrors Holder’s philosophy. His consistent prioritization of PC ideology is no longer just annoying or silly. It is dangerous, and it is time for the undercarriage of the Obama bus to meet Eric Holder face-to-face.
