Rubio Has It Backwards

Sen. Marco Rubio stated: “First comes the legalization. Then come the measures to secure the border. And then comes the process of permanent residence.” The security of this country should ALWAYS come first and if Rubio doesn’t understand that, he needs to go. Border security has been neglected far too long and a focus on social issues over security is dangerous and irresponsible.

Rubio’s backward agenda is one more sign that conservative values are being eroded by media pressure and vote pandering. The leftward shift of the political middle ground is being assisted by those who are freely giving up ground in a foolish effort to be popular with the loudest segment of the population rather than be true to long-held conservative values. This is an abandonment that will have dire consequences. Then again,  consequences no longer seem to matter.

Progressive Immigration Failure in Sweden

Progressives love to point to Sweden as an example of the type of utopian society they believe their agenda creates, but this past week’s riots in Sweden are a direct result of the continuing denial such an agenda demands. In the face of these riots, that denial continues as the press tries hard not to report that the overwhelming majority of rioters are Muslims.

Starting in the 80’s, Sweden began admitting a large number of third world immigrants, creating a generous welfare system to help them settle and assimilate. Economic and political upheaval in countries such as Somalia, Eritrea, Afghanistan and Iraq brought a huge number of Muslims to welcoming Sweden. Rather than assimilate, however, they created their own communities mirroring the values and traditions of their Muslim homelands.

The progressive, non-judgmental attitude prevalent in Sweden not only allowed these communities to shun assimilation, it allowed, and encouraged, an entire generation of Muslim immigrants to grow dependent on the welfare system while being infused with values and traditions that clash with Western societies. The violence towards the West found in the Middle East Muslim world, therefore, became part of their upbringing.

As Sweden tries to address the economic burden of their welfare system and revamp immigration policies, accusations of discrimination abound from those who have benefited most from those progressive policies. The autonomous communities that have been allowed to form are becoming offensive to many and as refusal to change continues, discrimination will undoubtedly occur.

There is much confusion on the part of officials in Sweden concerning the riots. Fully engrossed in progressive idealism, they do not understand how the recipients of their generosity could do such a thing. For those without progressive blinders, it is an inevitable result of being conditioned to welfare and treated with non-judgmental deference.

There is a lesson to be learned from this, but it is highly doubtful progressives here will see it. They have the same idealistic blinders on, believing open immigration and unlimited welfare works. The mainstream media agrees and will continue to conceal the rot such policies bring. They are much too invested to turn back now and will not allow riots in Sweden to be an omen.

Ignoring the Law

Obama’s directives for the non-enforcement of immigration laws legitimized disrespect for the law. His continuing skirting of rules, laws, and regulations with executive orders and political maneuvering has displayed an arrogant disregard for the rule of law and has been a top-down example many are following.

Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano emulated Obama and blatantly ignored the law by issuing a memo offering a deferred action and employment authorization to illegal aliens which was part of the Dream Act that Congress refused to pass.

Deportation of non-citizens who commit crimes has been ignored under the current push for amnesty for all. This type of non-legal amnesty is being expanded and enforced more than current immigration laws, putting society at risk. Tamerlan Tsarnaev, the dead terrorist who bombed the Boston marathon, is the latest example of someone who should have been deported (having been convicted of domestic violence) but was not.

The Northern District of Illinois has the lowest firearm prosecution rate of all federal court districts while Chicago, residing in that district, has one of the highest rates of gun-related murders. The cry for more gun laws continues, but current gun laws are not being enforced. They are being ignored.

In Denver, a publically announced and planned rally celebrating marijuana, which is still illegal to smoke in public, was held. Allowing (and ignoring) 80,000 people to openly break the law is a slap in the face to the rule of law. What signal does this send to our children? How can respect for the law survive?

Laws are to be followed, enforced, altered, or removed, but they should never be ignored. Judges may have discretionary powers when enforcing the law, but they have no right to ignore laws or make up new ones; nor does the president. Unfortunately, the example has been set and consequences are sure to come. Don’t be surprised when the hit.

Here Comes the Immigration Reform Farce

A bipartisan group of senators is ready to put forth a so-called “broad” immigration bill that is nothing but a farce. In today’s skewed political climate, “bipartisan” is only mentioned when conservatives cave in to the loud, shrill demands of the left. If a liberal moves to the right, he is called a traitor, a racist, or much worse, but never “bipartisan”.

Amnesty, the only goal of progressives’ immigration reform, is on the way. The “bipartisan” demand to secure the borders first, an absolute necessity before real immigration reform can begin, was given lip service and then watered-down to appease the “bipartisan” senators who will now pretend they fought hard for, and won, a working compromise.

The bill allows ten years of planning and/or securing the borders before any real impediment to citizenship can be put into place for failing to comply. Meanwhile, a path to citizenship for illegals will begin immediately with nothing to stop it from morphing into full-blown amnesty. In the span of ten years with little border security, that “path” to citizenship will become a fully paved, toll-free, four-lane, busy highway.

True comprehensive immigration reform is impossible until the borders are secure. Therefore, other immigration reforms will not even become a topic for discussion. One of those other reforms in need of addressing is assimilation.

According to a Hudson Institute’s comparison study of native-born to naturalized American citizens, native-born Americans are: 30% more likely to consider themselves American rather than citizens of the world; 30% more likely to believe the U.S. Constitution is a higher legal authority than international law; 31% more likely to believe schools should focus on American citizenship rather than ethnic pride; and 23% more likely to believe all citizens understand English.

Assimilation allowed the US to become a successful “melting pot” never before seen in the history of the world. We have become a less cohesive society the more we have ignored the importance of assimilation. We can’t realistically address this or other reforms until the borders are secure. This latest bill is a farce, reforms nothing, and opens the door to chaos.

Entitlement Programs are Financing Holy War

The Western world, bathed in political correctness and bowing to the god of diversity, is financing its own demise. Fearing being judgmental, many western governments have adopted an attitude of moral equivalence that allows terrorists to use entitlements to wage holy war

Radical British Muslim preacher Anjem Choudary was caught on tape urging followers to “Claim your Jihad Seeker’s Allowance”, also known as state benefits, in order to wage holy war as he does. He mocked those working for a living, bragging about his state provided take-home pay that is more than some British soldiers fighting in Afghanistan earn.

According to The Sun, Choudary lives in a $500,000 house and earns an equivalent taxed salary of approximately $50,000/year from housing benefits, council tax allowances, income support, and child benefits. He preaches to followers: “You must hate in your heart”, urging Muslims to kill David Cameron, Barack Obama and the leaders of Pakistan and Egypt. This is allowed, and financed, by the British government.

Unconditional acceptance of political correctness and diversity is rotting the very core of Western civilization. The common good, as well as common sense, has been abandoned in favor of “progressiveness”, the new religion for those abhorring religions. As the cartoon character Pogo once wisely said, “We have met the enemy and he is us”.

Runaway entitlement programs are doing much more than providing sustenance for those who are truly in need. They are creating a culture of dependence which breeds contempt for the hand that feeds. They are providing enemies with a safe haven for plotting. They are becoming an addictive drug, allowing those addicted to grow in number and vote, as a block, for more of the drug.

Our enemies are not stupid – we are. Wake up and smell the rot.

Say Goodbye to Christmas

It has become commonplace for the holiday season to bring furor and protests from progressives concerning Christmas trees, nativity scenes, and almost anything traditionally associated with Christmas. Even though polls show that a majority of people still favor those traditions, it is now inevitable that they will be eradicated.

On FOX’s “The O’Reilly Factor”, Jesse Waters reported back to Bill O’Reilly his results of random interviews on the streets of Rhode Island concerning the governor’s renaming of a Christmas tree as a “Holiday tree”. Waters reported that most people he talked to preferred Christmas tree to Holiday tree, except at Brown University. He reported: “Everyone I spoke to at Brown University was pro-holiday tree”. Everyone.

The take-over of this country’s education system by progressives has been complete for years and students at every level are fully indoctrinated with a progressive agenda that has been fed to them, unchallenged, their entire time in school. They are the future of this country and fully programmed to implement what they have been taught.

There will always be a few who will not accept such an agenda, but they will be ostracized and silenced, perhaps even jailed, by a majority indoctrinated (brainwashed?) to follow that agenda religiously. It has already become a substitute religion for many having blind faith in the veracity of its tenets.

With the minds and hearts of our youth hijacked by the progressive agenda, there is little hope that future generations will even look back on American traditions such as Christmas with anything but scorn. It will become an historical embarrassment eliciting even more guilt over this country’s evil past.

So, the train has left the station; the chickens have hatched; the cat’s out of the bag; the ship has sailed; the die is cast – pick whichever idiom suits you best because there is no turning back. Say goodbye to Christmas and much, much more. The battle for our children and our traditions has been lost before most even knew there was a war. The enemy within has won.

UPDATE: Liberal Censors on Campus

Obama International Failure Worse than UN Failure

The total failure of the UN concerning Iran, terrorism, and human rights issues is glaringly evident. The UN has been useless for years, internationally accepted as being little more than a stage for blustery rhetoric and hollow threats. Obama’s failure, however, has emboldened aggressive nation’s leaders, making it much more dangerous.

Iran’s Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, has benefited the most from Obama’s failure, bringing his nuclear weapons program to near fruition with impunity. Obama’s “multi-lateral approach” has failed to enforce US sanctions against Iran and, instead, has granted exemptions from those sanctions to all of Iran’s oil-trading partners.

Speaking at Tehran University, Ahmadinejad arrogantly proclaimed: “The existence of the Zionist regime is an insult to all humanity” and confronting Israel is an effort to “protect the dignity of all human beings”. Israel is on the brink of attacking Iran’s nuclear facilities to prevent an Iranian nuclear attack, but Ahmadinejad seems confident Israel will not get needed support from Obama to do that. Obama’s weakness is responsible for Ahmadinejad’s confidence and increasing aggression.

Not so coincidently, Saudi cleric Salman Al-Odeh declared on an Arab TV station that the Holocaust is an “exaggeration” and that Jewish people consume the blood of children. He elaborated seriously on this despicable Arab-propagated myth, deliberately stirring up hatred. This comes from a cleric in a supposedly US-friendly nation, preparing followers for active aggression against Israel. No US response is expected.

Obama’s failure to act during the Arab Spring takeover of Egypt by the Muslim Brotherhood has doomed that country. There are now reports that radical Muslims in Egypt are actually crucifying opponents of their president, Mohammed Morsi, on trees outside the presidential palace. There is no fear of reprisal from Obama.

Obama was weaned on a far-left agenda treating all cultures and nations with moral equivalence, except the United States, which is judged to be malevolent. Obama’s international failure is a direct result of that agenda. Heavily invested in Obama, the liberal media has tried to hide that failure, but the consequences are now too evident.

We are on the brink of a Middle East explosion, and Obama helped light the fuse. The UN’s incompetency pales in comparison.

NY Dep’t of Education Banning Words

This is a sad commentary on “progressive” trends in our education system and the misguided thought process of those in charge. It is not the children who are too sensitive, it is the adults who are supposed to know better.

The New York City Department of Education is waging a war on words of sorts, and is seeking to have words they deem upsetting removed from standardized tests. Fearing that certain words and topics can make students feel unpleasant, officials are requesting 50 or so words be removed from city-issued tests…The word “dinosaur” made the hit list because dinosaurs suggest evolution which creationists might not like…“Halloween” is targeted because it suggests paganism; a “birthday” might not be happy to all because it isn’t celebrated by Jehovah’s Witnesses…the word “dancing” is also taboo…“Poverty”… could make kids jealous…Also banned are references to “divorce” and “disease,” because kids taking the tests may have relatives who split from spouses or are ill…Abuse…alcohol…crime…computers in the home…homelessness…hunting…junk food…nuclear weapons…poverty…terrorism…violence…

Lack of National Pride

At a US-Mexico soccer match held in the Rose Bowl, the U.S. home team was booed, belittled, and beaten. Fans attending the game overwhelmingly rooted for the Mexico team and in the process, clearly displayed a national pride that is sadly missing for the country that provided them with the opportunity and freedom they could not find elsewhere. It does not bode well for the future of this country.

It is not unusual for immigrants in the U.S. to root for their birth country’s soccer team. Even those born here find themselves rooting for the country of their ancestors’ origin. However, that enthusiasm has always been kept in check by a deep respect for the US where they are now citizens. Mexico certainly holds soccer in high esteem and fans are very enthusiastic, but the lack of respect displayed in the Rose Bowl is a clear indication of how fractured this country is becoming.

Some believe that a U.S. stadium filled with fans of the Mexico team is a positive sign of diversity. In many ways that may be true, but the lack of national pride for this country in that stadium may also indicate that diversity is becoming divisive. The lack of pride for the U.S. was certainly on display when the post-match ceremony was held in Spanish. That was a slap in the face and a declaration of disdain for the very idea of assimilation.

It is unclear how displays of “diversity” such as this can be positive for the country. We are experiencing a fracturing into nationality or religious-based groups demanding special treatment along with exemptions from accepted U.S. policies, laws, and traditions. The melting pot that helped build this country is being replaced by separate pots demanding an individuality that goes against the very idea of a “United” States.

Europeans often sneer at the idea of “American culture”, but it has been developing over the years into its own, unique identity. The “diversity” that was on display in the Rose Bowl does not advance that development – it reverses its direction.

PC Multiculturism Hurting the UK

Political Correctness in the UK is paralyzing the country into the collateral damage of self-destruction through its effort to appease the gods of diversity. Ideological blinders block the impact of runaway political correctness as the country continues to experience problem after problem, some of which are not even discussed openly for fear of offending.

In the borough of Tower Hamlets in London, the police are being accused of covering up abuse, threats, and violence occurring due to the “Islamicising” of the area by Muslims. Teachers there say they feel under pressure from Muslim extremists and one teacher claims he was forced out of his job for complaining about Muslim racist and anti-Semitic bullying.

Even the PC campaign to mainstream homosexuality has taken a backseat to the appeasement of Islamic extremism in the borough. Police are turning their heads on homophobic crimes for fear of being accused of Islamophobia, obviously considered a more serious charge in a borough where homophobic crimes increased 80% since 2008.

In some Muslim communities in the UK, the tradition of first cousins marrying still abounds, bringing a host of genetic problems for the offspring of such marriages. Research shows that children of first cousins are ten times more likely to have genetic disorders, therefore, the UK’s health system will eventually be burdened with them. Political correctness keeps this problem from being discussed and, consequently, enables it to continue.

It is not just extremists that are causing problems for the UK. Many non-violent Muslim organizations do not believe in, and will not adhere to, British values on human rights or religious tolerance and, therefore, set themselves apart. This is producing “no-go” zones where people of other faiths are not tolerated. These zones are also breeding grounds for extremists.

Multiculturism is failing in the UK and other European countries because political correctness was allowed to rule common sense. Those cracks in European countries are reaching our shores as the lessons to be learned are being ignored because of ideological fervor.
