TJC Needs Boots on the Ground!

Dear Patriot, We are 26 days out from Election Day!  It’s time to fall-in and be counted!  I know so many of you are volunteering at various events, door-knocking and working the phones – thank you.  Keep up the effort right thru November 2nd. For everyone else, I need you to REPORT FOR DUTY and GIVE US 3, just T-H-R-E-E, hours per week!  Several of you wrote in about October’s TJC meeting; guys, it’s cancelled!  WE NEED BOOTS ON THE GROUND, NOW! TJC will adopt a phone bank two nights per week starting next week thru the election, consider these nights our meeting! A Message from TJC President Jeff McGeary

Dear Patriot,

Thank you to everyone who came out for our WE READ THE CONSTITUTION event on September 18th — we had a nice turn-out and I believe all came away with a stronger understanding as to the meaning and significance of our founding documents.  A special thanks to all our volunteers and readers who helped make this day possible.

In my preparation for the reading, I did some research around what became of the signers of our Declaration of Independence — for they all knew forthright that by the stroke of their pen they were committing treason against the crown — and the penalty for treason was death by hanging.  These men knew what they risked.  There were 56 signers; each had more to lose from revolution than to gain.

Two of them became presidents of the United States.  Seven of them became state governors.  One died in office as vice president of the United States.  Several would go on to be U.S. Senators.  Nine later died of wounds or hardships during the war.  Five were captured and imprisoned, in each case with brutal treatment.  Several lost wives, sons or entire families.  One lost his 13 children.  Two wives were brutally treated.  All were at one time or another the victims of manhunts and driven from their homes.  Twelve signers had their homes completely burned.  Seventeen lost everything they owned.  Yet not one defected or went back on his pledged word.  Their honor, and the nation they sacrificed so much to create is still intact today.  God bless each of them.

And here we are today, 234 years later.  What will you give for the price of liberty?

At the county level we have Mike Fitzpatrick poised to upset Pelosi-lapdog Patrick Murphy; Tom Corbett is polling strong for Governor; and Pat Toomey’s message of fiscal discipline, job creation, border security and the rule of law is resonating with all voters.

Two upcoming candidate debates:

This Friday 8-10am the Lower Bucks Chamber of Commerce will host a State Rep and Senate Candidates Forum at the Chamber office at 409 Hood Road, Fairless Hills, Pa.  The event is free and open to the public but you must RSVP; more information is available at http://lbccc.org/html/calendar.html.  Come out and support Rob along with other local conservative candidates!

This Sunday at 1pm Mike Fitzpatrick will square off with Patrick Murphy in a debate sponsored by the League of Women Voters at Shir Ami in Newtown (101 Richboro Road).  The event is open to the public and light refreshments will be served; please come out and support Mike!

Volunteer opportunity and phonebanking:

The Southeast PA Liberty Headquarters is open for business in Doylestown! We are just over 30 days out from Election Day and we need your support now!  The address is 15 Clemens Road and the HQ is open Monday-Friday 10am-4pm and evenings on Tuesday and Thursday from 6-9pm.  On the first night (last Tuesday) we made over 800 calls!  It is a lot of fun and the HQ is giving out prizes for the most calls; refreshments are also provided!  Additionally, door knocking takes place on Saturdays from 10am-2pm.  Please contact thekitchentablepatriots@gmail.com for more information.  A lot is happening…get involved today!

History Lesson for Constitution Day

Washington Crossing Historic Park was one of hundreds of locations around the country where the Declaration of Independence and U.S. Constitution were read Saturday.

With American flags flapping in a gentle breeze and the Delaware River as a backdrop, about 150 people gathered at Washington Crossing Historic Park Saturday for a refresher course on the country’s founding documents.

Members of the Bucks County-based Thomas Jefferson Club read every word of the Declaration of Independence and U.S. Constitution as audience members followed along with copies of both documents handed out by the club.

The reading was one of hundreds done at various locations around the country to commemorate Friday’s Constitution Day, said Thomas Jefferson Club founder and president Jeff McGeary, a Newtown Township resident.

Along with the readings, McGeary and other club members lent perspective and rounded out the history lesson by talking about the background and events leading up to the signing and ratification of both the Declaration and Constitution.

Reading of Constitution a Highly Successful Event

The reading of the Constitution at Washington Crossing Park, hosted by the Thomas Jefferson Club on a beautiful Saturday afternoon, was a very successful event. It was all the more poignant having occurred at such an historical location.

Were it not for George Washington’s military maneuver that began at that spot, the Revolutionary War may never have been successful. It took courage by individuals willing to put their lives on the line for what they believed in. It always takes courage to stand up for one’s beliefs, even today.

Jeff McGeary, president of TJC, paid tribute to many of those courageous men before the reading of the Constitution on Saturday, and related the hardship and death many of them suffered for standing up for their beliefs. It was a very deserved and respectful acknowledgment of those who gave us the best system of government the world has ever known.

The reading of the Constitution was done by only a few people but there, too, one could find a message delivered. Freedom and respect for the Constitution is not age limited, and the readers ranged from a young girl to a grandmother, spanning the age spectrum and representing all who enjoy the freedom we have because of the Constitution.

Furthering the poignancy of the event, the young girl reading was Ana Puig’s lovely daughter, one who is fully aware of how fortunate she is to be living in the US. Ana Puig came here as a young girl herself, looking to find freedom and a better way of life. She found it, made it available for her daughter, and is now one of those courageous people willing to stand up and speak up for the American way of life she so strongly believes in.

There were no protesters and there was no flag burning. Though both are allowed under the Constitution, it was not the time or place to exercise those rights. This event transcended political differences and received the respect it deserved from all. Thank you TJC for arranging this solemn event and reminding us all how fortunate we are.
