Arizona Shooting Stirs Media Stupidity

The outbreak of stupidity over the Arizona shooting spree by Jared Loughner is stunning and clearly indicates that this country is seriously divided along political ideological lines. This divide is growing wider and the liberal media is a willing catalyst to a split that may never be reconciled.

With no information at all on the shooter or his motivation, the left-wing media talking heads immediately and almost gleefully pounced on Sarah Palin, the Tea Party and all conservatives as the fundamental reason for the massacre. A media that refused to label Hasan, the Ft. Hood gunman, as a Muslim fanatic, even after he was reported to scream “Allahu Akbar” while shooting, decided immediately that the Arizona shooter was a right-wing fanatic.

Perhaps the most egregious assault on rationality over the Arizona shooting came from Arizona’s Pima County Sheriff, Clarence Dupnik, who blamed talk radio and television for inflaming the shooter to violence. Blindly overcome with partisan politics, Dupnik even had the audacity to say: “We see one Party trying to block the attempts of another Party to make this a better country.” Political babble such as this from a lawman who is supposed to deal in facts should be cause for dismissal, not press coverage.

So far, the actual facts uncovered indicate that Loughner was a very disturbed individual who was recognized as such by those who knew him. One classmate referred to him as a “leftwing pothead”, a far cry from the right-wing fanatic the media has labeled him. He was removed from classes at a community college where he was a constant disruption, instilling fear in classmates, and it is known he had a fascination with Hitler’s “Mein Kampf”. None of these actual facts point to a Tea Party member.

The left-wing media will ignore the facts as long as it can and no retractions will be issued over the false ideological spin they eagerly put forth. However, the violent image of conservatives they painted will remain with some, making this a successful propaganda attempt. As long as this continues, there is no hope of ever closing the political gap between left and right. Perhaps that is what the media desires.

Does anyone remember when Congressman Bob Brady, D-Phila, called the bug that was found in Mayor John Street’s office a plot by the white Republicans? Using race to win the election. Then, in 2008 in a Phila Magazine interview, admitted that he did not believe that was the fact but that he was scared Street was going to lose and “was just spinning the sh_t”. This is the same man who is now calling for legislation to protect members of Congress from use of such speech – too bad it would not be retroactive to his use of similar speech pitting race against race to meet his ends.

Phila experiences over 300 murders each year – what has Brady, or the Democratic Party which as controlled Phila for over 60 years, done for residents of Phila????
