Farrakhan Again, and Again, and Again, and …

Once again, Nation of Islam Minister Louis Farrakhan spoke out against the United States. He also spoke up in favor of his “friend”, Moammar Gadhafi, who he said was just playing the “role of a forceful parent in post-colonial Libya”. You know, a typical forceful parent who kills wantonly and raves like a lunatic. Oh, by the way, he also railed against the Jews – again.

It seems that Farrakhan is unable to deliver one of his screeds without bashing Jews. Of course, one is not supposed to make the assumption that he is anti-Semitic just because he blames Jews for everything. Calling President Obama “the first Jewish president” for not unconditionally backing the Palestinians against Israel should not be misinterpreted.

Farrakhan complains that his remarks are often taken out of context and that any criticism of the Jews is labeled as anti-Semitism. Conversely, he alleges racism every time someone criticizes him or the Nation of Islam for anything. It all makes sense to him and if you don’t believe him, it’s just because you are a racist.

Farrakhan’s diatribes have become somewhat blasé over the years. They are what one can expect from a leader of a religious group (not the same as the Islam religion) that has made UFOs an important part of its core teachings. The disturbing part is that a packed house at a civil rights conference at Jackson State University cheered his remarks. That does not bode well for lessening racial tensions in the country.

Of course, if racial tension was erased, Farrakhan and his ilk would be out of work and out of the spotlight. Farrakhan may rave irrationally and deliver some very controversial rhetoric, but that doesn’t make him stupid. After all, job security is important to everyone.
