Chevy Volt: The Failure Produced by Government Motors

From Forbes:

The Chevrolet Volt is beginning to look like it was manufactured by Atlas Shrugged Motors, where the government mandates everything politically correct, rewards its cronies and produces junk steel.

This is the car that subsidies built. General Motors lobbied for a $7,500 tax refund for all buyers, under the shaky (if not false) promise that it was producing the first all-electric mass-production vehicle.

Read the rest here.

By the way, GM announced a production run of 100,000 in the first two years.

Let’s see–that’s 50,000 a year, or a little more than 2,000 a month. The article says the actually numbers sold were 326 in December, 321 in January, and 281 in February, in spite of the $7500 government tax credit to buyers. Looks like Volts are going to be stacked up all over Detroit.

How ironic that all those committed “greenies” are missing in action when it comes to actually shelling out about $45,000 for a $20,000 car. Perhaps they aren’t so committed after all. Or maybe they’ve just all been committed.
