US Expatriations More than Double Each Year Since Obama Took Office

According to the Federal Register, where all expatriations are recorded, in what are called the Taxpatriate Lists, expatriations more than tripled in the first year of the Obama Administration and then more than doubled that number in the second year of his administration.

This obscure data should be a dire warning of things to come, if Republicans don’t stop Obama’s wild “drunken sailor” spending spree (OK. I know… Drunken sailors aren’t nearly as irresponsible as Obama. But you get the idea.)

A little while ago, I was updating the ActionAmerica.org Taxpatriates page and I got to doing what I often do and what the media won’t. I started analyzing the data and looking for patterns. I copied each of those quarterly lists from 2008, 2009 and 2010 into a spreadsheet and then added up the totals for each year. When I did that, I didn’t have to look far to find a very disturbing pattern. In 2008, only 231 formal expatriations were recorded in the Federal Register. After Obama’s first year in office, the number of formal expatriations for 2009 rose to 750. Then, at the end of Obama’s second year in office, the number of formal expatriations reached 1534, in 2010. But that’s not the worst of it.
