“Free” Community College

January 16, 2015

The very basis for Obama’s “free” community college (as if anything from the government is “free”) is that college has become necessary for all, but that has gone unchallenged for far too long. Ann Coulter not only challenges that idea, she takes a look at the leftist politics involved. As usual, she nails it.

From Ann Coulter

Community college is already incredibly inexpensive. The only thing that will jack up the price is making it “free.”… The cost of a college education has increased by more than 1,000 percent only since 1978…People coming out of college in the ’50s knew more than any recent Yale graduate…They’re teaching gender studies, ethnic studies, moral equivalence and hatred of America…The fact that 80 percent of Weathermen – the violent ’60s radicals – are full college professors tells you all you need to know about the state of higher education today.

The cost of college spirals continuously upward…because college loans are backed by the taxpayer…(m)ore than half of recent college graduates are unemployed or underemployed, meaning they make substandard wages in jobs that don’t require a college degree…Democrats are colluding with colleges to create a market bubble for an increasingly worthless product…Why is the left not willing to admit that education is an industry, just like Lockheed Martin, Enron or Philip Morris?… liberals won’t make a peep about the College Industrial Complex because college professors are brainwashing students into leftist politics…Every year, another 10 million graduates emerge, hating God, their parents, America and Republicans…The education industry is how leftists make capitalists pay for socialism.

Racist Victimization

May 6, 2014

Liberalism depends on the manipulation of emotions for political gain and it uses victims to tap into those emotions. Racism supplies victims and liberal exploitation of racism has harmed minority communities and fomented civil unrest throughout the country.

Treating people as victims not responsible for what they do is an insult, but this type of condescension brings dependency and, more poignantly, votes. Most in Black, Latino, and Hispanic communities oppose abortion, support traditional marriage, favor school choice, and agree with many conservative views, but “community leaders” and liberal elites ignore this.

For example, 70% of black voters supported California’s Proposition 8 defining marriage as a union between one man and one woman but the arrogant liberal establishment called them homophobes and bigots, considering it a betrayal. In the same way, successful black conservatives such as Clarence Thomas and Condoleezza Rice are called “race traitors”, “Uncle Toms”, or much worse because they don’t toe the established liberal line.

This insistence on conformity is racist. In the past, white racists wanted blacks kept “in their place” and today’s liberal elites insist that their place is the Democratic Party. There is little difference. Years of this have conditioned many to mirror the liberal establishment’s idea of what an African-American should be. Thus, we find some treating those among them striving for achievement as “sellouts” who are acting white. The Hispanic and Latino communities are now being molded in a similar manner.

Martin Luther King’s dream of a colorblind society is a threat to today’s liberal elites. The race card is often the only card they hold on many issues and it is ignorantly brought out at every opportunity as a show-stopper. Voter ID, illegal immigration, deficit reduction, minimum wage, unemployment, abortion, and even global warming are seen as racial issues. Absurdly, even a dislike of Mexican food is being considered racist by some.

These communities deserve more than to be treated as victims. Until that occurs, this country will remain polarized, mired in racism, and unable to move forward.

Census Bureau Data Shows Bubble Bursting

April 16, 2014

For all those voting strictly for the party that continues to provide more and more government handouts, you should know that the freebie bubble is about to officially burst. Census Bureau Data shows those receiving handouts far outnumber those working to pay for them and it is only a matter of time before it all crumbles.

Buried deep on the website of the U.S. Census Bureau is a number every American citizen, and especially those entrusted with public office, should know…In 2012, according to the Census Bureau, approximately 103,087,000 people worked full-time (35 or more hours per week)… There were 108,592,000 people in the fourth quarter of 2011 who lived in a household that included people on “one or more means-tested program“…Those 108,592,000 outnumbered the 86,429,000 full-time private-sector workers who inhabited the United States in 2012 by almost 1.3 to 1…All told, including both the welfare recipients and the non-welfare beneficiaries, there were 151,014,000 who “received benefits from one or more programs”…The 147,802,000 non-veteran benefit takers outnumbered the 86,429,000 full-time private sector workers 1.7 to 1

These numbers make it clear our current government assistance situation is not sustainable. It is also clear that we are already on our way down. If voters don’t wake up, we may possibly hit bottom during the next administration’s reign.

Framing the Issue Falsely – Again

August 27, 2013

On The White House Blog, Secretary of Health and Human Services, Kathleen Sebelius, championed Obamacare by framing the health care issue in a way that presents a false sense of discrimination and victimhood. This framing is intentionally misleading.

Sebelius said: “Without the opportunity to live a healthy life, there is no opportunity to live the American dream or participate fully in our communities. Without the freedom which comes from having access to quality health care, there is no freedom to reach our full potential in the workforce or watch our kids or grandkids grow up.”

She is right in what she says but deliberately misleading because “opportunity” does exist to find the American dream and “access” to quality health care has been available for quite some time. “Access” is being used as a synonym for “free” by Sebelius, and that is the way the left has been framing this issue since the beginning of Obamacare in order to sell it to the masses.

“Opportunity” is also being distorted by Sebelius because she really means “entitlement”. This has been the most egregious and deliberate distortion from the left for years. The Civil Rights Movement was highly successful in providing opportunity to those who were previously deprived of it and that opportunity remains available. However, one must take advantage of that opportunity.

Ironically, it is a Hollywood celebrity who provided the best perspective. At the Teen Choice Awards, Ashton Kutcher defined opportunity perfectly when he said: “I believe that opportunity looks a lot like work”. There it is in a nutshell.

Sebelius and the left rarely use the word “work” as a verb. They use it as a noun (as in “job”) and even then it is used as something that is provided, not earned. Telling people to work for what they want does not bring votes. That, too, is the issue in a nutshell.

Obama Continues Pretending

August 10, 2013

In his latest press conference, President Obama continued his campaign to demonize Republicans and frame issues as “us against them”, splitting America further in the process. With bumper-sticker logic directed at the lowest common denominator, Obama accused Republicans of having a “fixation” against his healthcare law.

Pretending there is nothing wrong with a healthcare law that is falling apart more each day, Obama asked “…why it is that my friends in the other party have made the idea of preventing these people from getting healthcare their holy grail?”, referring to uninsured Americans. He then framed the entirety of opposition to the law by saying: “The one unifying principle in the Republican Party at the moment is making sure that 30 million people don’t have healthcare.”

There is little difference between this inane rhetoric and that from any liberal TV talk show host. It is designed to skirt the real issue, demonize the opposition, and prey on emotions. These are Alinksy tactics for radicals, ones that Obama embraced in his youth and continues to use from the White House – and they are pathetically deceitful.

With Republicans railing against the many flaws, inconsistencies, and economic hazards contained in Obamacare, this president chooses to pretend that opposition is hatefully geared toward keeping healthcare away from the uninsured. It is something Chris Matthews, Ed Shultz, or Rachel Maddow would say in the same way they label all opposition to Obama as racist. It is not something the President of the United States should be saying.

Obama has used this same tactic with the scandals that are rife in his administration by labeling them all as “phony” and refusing to address them seriously. Since being elected, he has set the tone for this type of exaggeration and demonization coming from the left. Thus, opposition to illegal immigration and big government is labeled as “racist”, and opposition to gay marriage and abortion is simply “hatred”. How juvenile this all is.

This president who promised to bring us together has deliberately been doing the opposite. His entire administration is steeped in denial and pretense. American voters have been duped and are just now beginning to realize it. Admitting it, however, is a whole ‘nuther thing.

The Enemy Within

July 22, 2013

A perfect example of the existence of our “enemy within” was provided by Andrew Sullivan over the weekend. When asked by Chris Matthews if he thought the US would be a superpower in 20 years, Sullivan honestly answered that “With any luck we won’t be”. This elicited laughter from Matthews’ liberal guests who were unashamed to be in agreement with the wish that the United States loses its prominence in the world.

Bringing down America (i.e. the United States) has been a goal, adopted from Communism, for the far-left for years, but it has been looked upon as an innocuous idea held only by a fringe element of society. Unfortunately, that fringe element has grown and become emboldened by the election of Obama who expressed his own dissatisfaction with this country and instituted a personal agenda to change it to his personal view.

Obama’s promise to “fundamentally transform America” was not taken literally by far too many liberals interested only in social, “progressive” issues. Making history and putting someone in the White House sympathetic to their issues turned them into partisan backers of Obama’s agenda. That agenda legitimized far-left, anti-American ideas that are now blindly being backed through partisan political inertia.

Wanting to be the best and working towards excellence have been envious American traits for hundreds of years, making this country a world power and a world leader maintaining the torch of freedom for all. It is pathetic that anyone here could wish we lose that standing and become just another nation falling victim to socialized mediocrity and attracting immigrants looking for handouts rather than opportunity.

Idealism forces one to focus on mistakes rather than accomplishments and that leads to contempt. Obama legitimized that contempt and it is now imbedded in his transformation agenda that blind followers have embraced. The enemy is, indeed, within and unless the blinders come off, our demise is evident. It is already in the making.

Media the Only One Found Guilty in Zimmerman Trial

July 10, 2013

By now, it is obvious that George Zimmerman should not have been brought up on the charges he is facing and that there is no credible evidence to refute his claim of self-defense. If a guilty verdict is somehow still reached by the jury, it will mirror the outcome of the O.J. Simpson trial where liberal guilt and obsession with race triumphed over truth, justice, and the American Way.

An acquittal would mean Zimmerman is not guilty of murder charges brought about hastily because of pressure from the media. The media overwhelmingly found Zimmerman guilty of being a racist without knowing any of the facts and demanded that he be arrested, tried, and convicted – NOW. That’s how irrational obsession works and the Zimmerman trial found the media guilty, once again, of that obsession.

When (If?) Zimmerman is acquitted, the media will also be guilty of causing the inevitable riots that will occur. The black community was convinced by the liberal media, celebrities, and so-called “community leaders” that Zimmerman is a racist who shot Trayvon Martin simply because he was black. Even now, after no evidence of that has surfaced, it is the predominant theme the media is broadcasting and it is the match that has already lit the fire.

The media will point to those riots as proof of the racial tensions that still infect this country – the same tensions the media is guilty of sustaining with their obsession. That guilt also includes treating the entire black community as victims and making sure they stay that way, believing they are incapable of fending for themselves.

Wanting desperately to shoe-horn this into a racial crime right from the start, the media invented a new race, “White Hispanic”, to overcome the lack of an evil white man as perpetrator. In doing so, the media broke new ground in denial and proved they are guilty of blind, partisan stupidity. But then, we already had plenty enough proof of that.

Whatever the final outcome, the Zimmerman trial already provided a guilty verdict for the media and it is up to the American people to deliver a sentence.

Bye-Bye Border

June 20, 2013

In its rush to grant amnesty to illegal immigrants, the Senate rejected a proposal that would have required Congress to vote on border security measures being implemented before immigrants are granted legal status. Securing the border is a pre-requisite for true immigration reform and if amnesty is granted first, Congress will be more interested in securing the votes of those receiving amnesty. The border will be neglected.

Rubio, a rising star in the GOP, joined with John McCain, a falling star, to help make legal status for illegals the main issue of the immigration reform bill. In doing so, they forgot Republican principles and caved to the Democrat’s definition of reform as being synonymous with amnesty. The GOP, quietly watching the Rubio show from the sidelines, is now becoming concerned but it may be too late. The train has left the station.

Arguments put forth to rationalize amnesty have often been less than rational, but they have been repeated often enough to dull the senses of the masses – and the GOP. Granting amnesty is being touted as economically beneficial because those getting legal status will be paying taxes, but Illegal-immigrant households currently pay about one-fourth the taxes of other households due to low-paying jobs and many are on government assistance and will remain so. Also, those granted legal status will be exempt from Obamacare, making them cheaper and more attractive for employers to hire at lower wages, forcing native-born Americans onto unemployment.

The “transformation of America” that is taking place includes an open border. The current immigration reform bill paves the way and may eventually bring about the elimination of the border altogether. The GOP did not play its cards right and by allowing Rubio and McCain to take the reins, it folded. The promise to secure the border later is the same as the Secure Fence Act passed by Congress in 2006 promising a fence. It didn’t happen and it won’t happen. How many times are we going to allow ourselves to be fooled?

Manipulation by Democrats

June 18, 2013

The average benefit for food stamp recipients is currently $113.41 per month. The food stamp program was re-named SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) for politically correct purposes, but the “assistance” it provides is still not intended to be the only means of paying for food. Otherwise, the “A” (for Assistance) in SNAP would not be there.

Apparently, 26 Democrats in Congress are too dense to understand that or are just putting on a show in the media by taking what is being called the “SNAP Challenge” in order to protest a Farm Bill that, if passed, will reduce food stamp benefits. (Why a “Farm Bill” is dealing with food stamps is a whole different problem.) This SNAP Challenge is to live off of $4.50 per day for food to show how difficult that is, eliciting sympathy for keeping and/or increasing the current food stamp benefit.

Food stamps were never intended to be used in that manner, but idealism is blind to reality. This challenge involves spending $4.50 per day instead of buying in quantity like those actually receiving food stamps would do. It is a transparent ploy to make things seem as bad as possible. Would you buy just one apple or one hot dog per day if you actually had to subsist on food stamps? Would you buy them from an “organic” food store where prices are exorbitant? Would you buy pre-packaged, individually wrapped cheese slices?

The media, of course, loves this SNAP challenge and treats it as if it is a display of sensitivity in a creative, witty way instead of political theater. Unfortunately, many voters are manipulated easily. They bought the lie of being able to keep the health insurance they have and still believe health care premiums will go down. It’s a small step to believe food stamps should pay for all the food one needs. Don’t be surprised if it becomes one of Hillary’s campaign promises.

It’s All About the Kids, Right?

June 14, 2013

From Ben Shapiro at Breitbart

…in the Los Angeles Unified School District, two perfect attendees throughout high school received new Chevrolet Sonics, priced at $18,000, for showing up to school every day. During the 2012-2013 school year, LAUSD has handed out monthly prizes to kids who were present every day…the LAUSD system is paid by the state of California only for attendance. Every student is worth $32 per day from the state to the LAUSD system. That means that when students skip school, the unionized teachers and administrators pay the price…It isn’t Oprah running LAUSD and handing out cars. It’s the teachers unions, which are mainly concerned with creating bizarre incentive systems to get butts in the seats rather than knowledge in the brains.
