Bully Puppets

February 15, 2017

Many liberal progressives have adopted bullying as their main political tactic and have become little more than puppets echoing talking points and false premises fed to them by the aggressive far-left agenda. They are oblivious to hypocrisy, irony, and reality as they allow themselves to be emotionally manipulated.

Very few can cogently explain the reasons behind their vehement protesting. Instead, many offer bumper sticker sentiments and senseless platitudes that do little more than roil their emotions. False facts, incredulous exaggerations, and calamitous projections are being used as the basis for protests that are becoming violent in nature.

Bullying, a serious concern sweeping the nation in recent years, has become a normal and advocated tactic for the far-left. Those expressing any approval whatsoever of president Trump or his administration have become targets for bullying or worse and it is treated as a proper and courageous response against all opposition. The irony, of course, is lost on the self-righteous perpetrators who are blinded by emotional turmoil.

In a very sheep-like manner, protesters are being driven into the streets over issues and concerns that they have been falsely led to believe jeopardize their very existence. This develops a sense of fear and urgency that common sense or rationality cannot penetrate. As a result, many of these protesters engage in mob behavior that brings destruction and violence.

The media cannot control its bias so they treat these “bully puppets” as simple grassroot protesters and make sure every celebrity’s political ranting is given extensive coverage. Boycotts, further attempts at bullying, are being called for against individuals, small businesses, and large corporations unwilling to join the frenzied tirade against Trump. Colleges are allowing, and often advocating, students to ban opposing views from campus and bully those who do not express hatred of Trump.

This disgusting behavior comes from those demanding inclusiveness while hypocritically labeling the silent (and peaceful) majority that elected Trump as Fascists, Nazis, sexists, racists, haters and misogynists. It is getting dangerously out-of-hand and there is little hope for a united society if these bully puppets continue raging.

Trauma at Rutgers

February 21, 2016

After a speech at Rutgers University by Breitbart editor Milo Yiannopoulos, some students and faculty members felt so “traumatized” that they held a group therapy session afterward to soothe their sensitive psyches. Yiannopoulos talked about “How the Progressive Left Is Destroying Education”, an opinion exemplified by protesting students.

The speech drew a huge crowd of students wanting to hear what Milo had to say but that only enraged some feminists and Black Lives Matter protesters further. Intent on disrupting the event because it does not follow the only agenda they believe should be allowed on campus, they smeared blood on their faces, screamed slogans, and vandalized before finally being forced to leave.

The fake blood, screaming, and vandalism caused no trauma; simply allowing the speech to occur did. Those “traumatized” did not even hear the speech but some needed group therapy because their ideas were being challenged, exactly what should occur in a healthy academic environment. Expecting everyone to think the same is foolishly immature. Demanding it is arrogantly asinine.

It is a failure of our education system to allow faculty members to advocate and participate in student demands to suppress differing ideas. Progressive faculties have taken over the education system from grade school to college, indoctrinating students with an agenda that now has students feeling “traumatized” by the very existence of a different point of view. That agenda has become more important than education.

If encouraged, the next step will be to make differing views illegal, something already beginning to materialize in schools through various restrictive speech codes. It is ironic that an agenda advocating diversity in all things demands total conformity of ideas – and it is as dangerous as it is foolish.

It is refreshing that at least at Rutgers, many more students were interested in hearing differing views than suppressing them. That could certainly change, and if schools do not stop faculties from indoctrinating students with a progressive agenda, it will.

College Coddling

December 2, 2015

At Brown University, a debate between two women on whether or not there existed a “rape culture” on campus was felt to be too traumatizing for some students. Any criticism or doubt of the existence of a rape culture was felt to be “invalidating people’s experiences” and “damaging”, so the school set up a “safe space” for students complete with cookies, coloring books, bubbles, Play-Doh, calming music, pillows, blankets and a video of frolicking puppies.

This school-provided kindergarten atmosphere is little more than a coddling of students raised in a progressive, PC culture that considers differing opinions to be “hate speech”. Colleges once deliberately subjected students to differing opinions in order to broaden their minds. That was the very goal of a “liberal” education. Now, it seems to be the exact opposite and “safe places” are proliferating on college campuses across the country to protect students from the “hostile environment” created by differing opinions.

Colleges have gone from challenging students to coddling them and the idea of “higher learning” has been lost. Remedial courses are on the increase for students ill-prepared for college and the curriculum has been dummied down at many schools to keep students matriculating. After 12 years of an overwhelming progressive and liberal education, students entering college have been conditioned to one view of complicated issues with no tolerance for dissent. Colleges are continuing that conditioning.

The government helped create this college coddling of students with the Title IX demand that schools receiving federal money (pretty much all of them) assure that the environment does not become hostile to students. Although this was addressing sexual assaults on campus, schools are playing it safe by allowing students to define “hostile environment” and, of course, it has gone overboard.

Colleges are more concerned with money than prestige, so they are coddling students used to being coddled rather than make waves (or lawsuits) by trying to expand their minds with differing views. Thus, colleges are caving in to outrageous demands and allowing students to run the show. Parents paying for much of this are the ones truly in need of “safe places”.

Black Lies Matter

November 12, 2015

Regardless of one’s opinion concerning the Black Lives Matter movement, disgraceful actions taken by members taints the entire movement and elicits scorn rather than respect. The movement’s intended message has been totally lost in a sea of ignorant acts.

The trampling and burning of the American flag outside the Republican debates is the latest example of such acts coming from movement members. Adding to their ignorance, some BLM protesters circulated rumors that police deployed tear gas on them when, in fact, the police were only using a fire extinguisher to put out the flames. Black lies matter, too, and they certainly don’t help credibility.

These acts cannot be passed off as exuberance or mere exaggeration on the part of the protesters. They come from a misguided hatred of the country instilled by lies and distortions from so-called “leaders” using victimization as a tool to advance their personal agenda. This victimization has been kept alive over the years by shifting blame from slavery to “whitey” to the government to the police and to the entire county. It now drives the BLM movement and valid complaints have been lost in the hatred.

This movement has tacitly and often vocally encouraged the killing of police officers and that encouragement has resulted in the murder of several police officers, the same officers who put their lives on the line to protect the community where the protesters live. They also protect the right of protesters to protest but that doesn’t “matter”.

The level this has reached is astounding and the consequences are frightening. Yet, it continues with no regard or respect for anything outside the narrow point-of-view dictated by “leaders”. Anyone daring to state the obvious, that all lives matter, is labeled a racist as is anyone who does not blindly follow the “leader”.

This is part of the far-left’s “transformation of America” and it has turned into the desecration of America, but maybe that was the intention all along. America-bashing has always been a favorite far-left pastime and, unfortunately, it is has now become part of the BLM movement.

Athletic Blackmail

November 11, 2015

When the University of Missouri’s football team joined student protesters and threatened not to play a scheduled game against BYU at Arrowhead stadium in Kansas City, school president Tim Wolfe’s resignation was signed, sealed, and delivered before he even had a chance to consider it. The moneymaking power of college athletics was the driver.

Forfeiting that game would have cost the university the million dollars it already guaranteed BYU for agreeing to play. Added to that would be millions lost from renting Arrowhead stadium and all the subsequent revenue from tickets, concessions, parking, and TV broadcasting. When you compare that with the university president’s salary of approximately $459k, forcing Wolfe’s resignation seems like a sound economic decision, but it will have consequences.

The protesters will treat this as a victory from “speaking truth to power”, but it was blackmail by the football team that did the talking and now, a dangerous precedent has been set. Would the university have caved if the football team threatened to forfeit a game unless Republican speakers were banned from the campus? What if the demand was to provide refuge and scholarships to illegal immigrants? How about a demand to replace every white administrator with an African-American or fire teachers who do not toe the PC line?

Some will argue that this is different because it was about the serious issue of racism but there really is such a thing as a “slippery slope”, and the unleashed economic power of a football team can become very slippery, indeed. Wolfe’s resignation will not solve any racial problems the university may be experiencing and it was forced before allegations, circumstances, or culpability could be fully determined. It was, simply, knee-jerk blackmail – and it worked all too well.

Students and student athletes taking control of a university does not bode well. Holding a school hostage for any reason is just another form of the anarchy we see rising in the streets. Allowing it could prove to be much more costly in the long run than the loss of a football game. We can only hope this is an isolated incident but power corrupts and college athletes across the country are now fully aware of the power they have. Call it “higher learning”, cross your fingers, and hope for the best.

Far Left = Far Out

October 27, 2015

It gets nuttier and nuttier. The far Left sifts everything through a PC/racist filter that transforms reality into a fantasy world that would be laughable if it wasn’t taken so seriously. Unfortunately, it is taken seriously and that sucks the humor out, making it simply pathetic.

MSNBC’s Melissa Harris-Perry scolded a guest on her show for using the word “hard-worker”, explaining: “I want us to be super careful when we use the language ‘hard worker,’ because I actually keep an image of folks working in cotton fields on my office wall, because it is a reminder about what hard work looks like”. Thank you, Melissa, for reminding us about slavery because we often forget to be obsessed with it in our daily routines and language.

She did, however, further define a hard-worker “in the context of relative privilege” (because that is the only context we should be concerned about) as “moms who don’t have health care”. It is a wonder that her “privileged” guest, Latino activist Alfonso Aguilar, didn’t break down in tears and apologize for his callous misuse of the English language – or just break down laughing.

Attempting to re-define words and ways of speaking to advance the far-left agenda has become ridiculous, especially in colleges. The University of Tennessee, bowing to the LGBT community, recently published guidelines for replacing common pronouns such as ‘he’, ‘she’, ‘him’ and ‘her’ with the strange terms ‘xe’, ‘zir’ and ‘xyr’ in order to “make the university ‘welcoming and inclusive’ and stop people feeling marginalized”.

Staff members at the school were also advised to eliminate roll calls (which somehow marginalize students) and greet each student separately, asking them to “announce their name and pronoun of preference” to be used when addressing them. With several pronouns to choose from, it seems students would have to take notes to keep it all straight lest they offend someone during the semester.

Luckily for students, there was a backlash calling these proposals ridiculous and absurd, forcing the university to “clarify” that nobody would be forced to use them. A university spokesman (spokesperson?) said, “we do not dictate speech”, but that seems to be exactly what the university’s “inclusive practices” are attempting to do. We all know that “practice makes perfect”, so it’s just a matter of time before they become mandatory.

Let Them Eat Cake

July 10, 2015

There is no Christian doctrine, commandment, or Papal encyclical forbidding baking a cake for a lesbian wedding celebration. Refusal to do so is a personal decision to make a statement against same-sex marriage. It is a distortion of religious doctrine to claim it goes against religion and a disingenuous shifting of personal responsibility.

However, a business should be able to decide who it will do business with as long as there is no legally defined discrimination involved. The two Christian bakers who refused to bake a cake for a lesbian wedding were not discriminating against lesbians. They had served them previously but decided that a wedding cake was a step over a personally-set line based (erroneously) on their interpretation of their religion. They should have a right of refusal and a right to their beliefs.

The two lesbians were familiar with the bakers, having done business with them previously, and knew they weren’t “homophobes” or lesbian-bashers. They, too, decided to make a personal statement by filing a discrimination complaint with the state knowing that the bakers weren’t truly discriminating. Their actions were agenda-driven and displayed intolerance and insensitivity. Not satisfied with the acceptance the LGBT agenda pursued and achieved, they decided to force the issue to legally obtain approval.

Two wrongs do not make a “right”, and both parties in this sad story are wrong. This is a perfect example of how agenda-driven politics has eradicated common decency. Both sides decided to take a political stand instead of just respecting and accepting each other’s feelings and views. It was no big deal for the lesbians to find another baker as it was no big deal for the bakers to just sell them a cake. There was no harm done either way.

In today’s society, the progressive agenda screams the loudest, demands the most and, unfortunately, almost always wins. Oregon’s Bureau of Labor and Industry decided the bakers unlawfully discriminated and punished them with a $135K fine for “damages”. It is not clear at all what the damage was or what the lesbians “won” but the bakers certainly have been harmed.

What is clear is that society and common sense lost, the bakers are financially ruined, and the lesbians get to eat cake.

Liberal Privilege

March 23, 2015

Over at The Blaze, Matt Walsh speaks plainly and truthfully about society’s granting of privilege to liberal women. It is something most recognize but rarely speak out about for fear of the angry and vicious backlash suffered by Mr. Walsh when he dared speak against rapper Azealia Banks’ ignorant and racist diatribe against white people.

From Matt Walsh at The Blaze

In her (Azealia Banks) Playboy interview/stripping session, she spoke proudly of her hatred for white conservative men, white teenage girls, white farmers, white Middle Americans, and anything else created by or associated with white people…I wrote a piece to retort Banks and to point out her hypocrisies and prejudices…Banks took to Twitter to send me and another conservative, Wayne Dupree, a close up photo of her genitals…followed up with a lewd Tweet to my wife…All of this was applauded by her legions of young, progressive fans…I was repeatedly informed that I am the sexist, the racist, and the bigot…for me to criticize her for sending nude photos…

…the reaction would be slightly different if a white conservative male — say, a country star or something — said in an interview that he hated black Americans, then sent an unsolicited picture of his penis to a black female blogger…The double standard is so bad that it isn’t a double standard at all. For progressives — particularly women, particularly minority women — there is simply no standard to speak of…If you are progressive, and especially a woman, and especially a minority woman, you can lash out in whatever manner you like, launching whatever attacks you like, against whatever group you like, provided the victims aren’t homosexuals or liberal black people…

It’s important to underscore, however, that it’s only liberal women and minorities who wield this incredible privilege. Non-liberals in those groups have the least leeway out of everyone, and can be attacked more viciously than anyone…Liberals, particularly liberal women, are operating in a void without any standards of basic decency. They know society will allow them to say or do whatever…rules don’t apply to liberals, and even less to liberal women, and even less to liberal minority women…

An Ugly American

March 17, 2015

Hating America is so prevalent among far-left progressives that it seems to have become a requirement. The younger they are, the more vehemently they hate America because their schools were filled with America-bashing academics. Although Harlem-born Azealia Banks never finished high school, she still over-achieved in America-bashing.

In an interview with Playboy, rapper Azealia Banks proudly stated: “I hate everything about this country”. After reading more of her 23-yr-old “wisdom”, it becomes easy to hate everything about her and see her as the epitome of the “Ugly American” many have come to loathe.

She is a young, angry, bisexual, black woman spewing racist remarks while bemoaning racism in society. The hypocrisy eludes her because she is blinded by hatred and a twisted interpretation of…well…of almost everything. “I hate fat white Americans” doesn’t come across to her as anything but a proud, personal indictment of America nurtured in childhood by a mother who taught her that “white people are the devil”.

When declaring “Those little teenage girls who work at Kmart and have a racist grandma — that’s really America”, she reveals deep personal animosity and ignorance. She stereotypes her white fans “who got handed down your grandfather’s estate and you got to keep your grandmother’s diamonds and pearls” and claims she suffers from the “generational effects of Jim Crow”, but it is doubtful she understands the history of Jim Crow.

She says her anger comes from the discrimination she’s felt all her life in this country, but physical and verbal abuse from her mother that forced her to leave home at the age of 14 may be the real culprit. One could almost feel sorry for her but it is hard to do so when she gladly wallows in her ignorance and spits rage in your face gleefully. She only wants to piss you off and in that, she is highly successful.

She angrily declares “As long as I have my money, I’m getting the f— out of here” but, unfortunately, she is still here – just like all the far-left liberals who were going to leave if Bush got elected. Maybe if we all chipped in for plane tickets…

The Press is NOT Charlie Hebdo

January 19, 2015

A great response to the hypocritical press concerning solidarity with Charlie Hebdo came from Rex Murphy last week at the National Post. He’s not buying their after-the-fact commitment and everyone needs to hear what he has to say about it.

From Rex Murphy

…we are in the middle of another blizzard of post-facto hashtag bravery…The solidarity would have been a lot more impressive, more persuasive, some time before this week’s mass butchery…Indeed, at our universities, newspapers and broadcasters, we have seen an ever-shrinking defense of free speech…the press and the universities, have been at best complicit and at worst cowardly when it comes up to defending freedom of speech — not from threats of Islamist fanatics with guns, but in much less demanding circumstances…

Where was this “we” when a video critical of Islam was mendaciously identified as the “cause” of the terror attack on Benghazi… Where is this We of the Hashtags when whole swathes of the press, and some political leaders, refuse to call acts that are plainly terroristic by their proper name…And where was We of the Hashtags when President Obama made the inexplicable declaration at the United Nations that “the future does not belong to those who slander the Prophet”…There is no “We are Charlie Hebdo” in that statement. There is surrender instead…Our universities bleat about inquiry and free speech, but they are feeble and craven, caving in to protestors and special interests…Where was “we” when a band of fatuous progressives protested former U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice giving a convocation address at Rutgers University…Where was We of the Hashtags when Ann Coulter was pre-emptively cautioned about what she could or should say by officials at the University of Ottawa? Where was “we” when Ayaan Hirsi Ali was humiliated and an honourary degree invitation revoked after campus activists at Brandeis University — faculty and students — protested…There is no “we” after the killings. There are very few worthy of that claim … and, alas, under the shout of allahu akbar, 12 of them are now quite dead.

Read it here: We are not Charlie Hebdo
