The Fix Is In – Transformation Complete

July 6, 2016

Looking as comfortable as a hostage reading an ISIS manifesto, F.B.I. director James B. Comey let Hillary off the legal hook for “extreme carelessness”, aka “gross negligence”, in her handling of confidential and secret e-mails. Also like a hostage, Comey tried to blink the message that Hillary is guilty and has been lying and obstructing justice right from the beginning of this fiasco. That, however, is too “nuanced” for true believers to see, so Hillary is now free to complete the “transformation” started by Obama.

If American voters are willing to accept this insult to their intelligence in order to “make history” by electing Hillary president, they will then deserve the consequences. Obama set the precedent of ignoring and changing the law from the White House and it has now become standard procedure throughout his administration. If elected, Hillary will cast that precedent in concrete and there will be no turning back.

Comey lamely gave lack of “intent” to do harm as an excuse but that is not the law. It certainly wasn’t the law in 2015 when Naval Reservist Brian Nishimura was sentenced to two years of probation and a $7,500 fine for a very similar incident. In that case, the FBI also determined that Nishimura did not “intend” to distribute classified information to unauthorized personnel, but Nishimura was not a player in the “transformation” so he had to pay.

Attorney General Loretta Lynch set the stage (and possibly wrote the script) for this pathetic play just a few days earlier after being caught having a “secret” meeting with former president Bill Clinton. She then tried to clear the mucky air by saying she would accept whatever recommendations the FBI offered, forcing Comey to do the dirty job for her. Somewhere, former USSR officials are smiling knowingly at the charade.

If this doesn’t wake up American citizens nothing will, and the country is lost.

The Worst of Obama

October 3, 2015

The Oregon school shooting brought out the worst of president Obama. Once again, he let his emotions and political agenda override what should have been a presidential demeanor and compassion in time of tragedy. Instead, he wallowed in self-righteousness and lectured America during a press conference, ignorantly urging more politics over reasonable debate.

Before facts concerning the shooting were known, Obama quickly determined that guns were responsible and began inflaming the gun controversy just as he has inflamed racism at every opportunity. He knows exactly what he is doing because politics is the only tool in his toolbox and it is his answer for everything.

He urged everyone to follow his foolish lead and turn this shooting into a political issue, as if the media hadn’t already done so. Going even further, he advocated everyone become a one-issue voter and use his agenda on gun control as a sole basis for voting. One-issue voting, of course, neglects addressing the many failures of his administration (and the Democratic Party), something Obama has become expert at doing. It is a fatuous way to vote that should be discouraged.

And what, exactly, is Obama’s agenda on gun control? In his press conference, he revealed his agenda when he praised “countries like ours”, Australia and Great Britain, which “have been able to craft laws that almost eliminate mass shootings”. They have confiscated guns in those countries; countries which are not “like ours” in that we have over 350 million guns in circulation. If it is “impossible” to round up and deport 10 million illegal immigrants, how do we confiscate 350 million guns?

Trying to further his point, Obama urged news organizations to compare gun deaths with deaths from terrorists in the country, an apples-to-oranges comparison. He could also compare gun deaths (approx. 30 per day) with drug deaths (approx. 120 per day), but that would highlight the senseless “progressive” push to legalize marijuana and other drugs – a political football he’d rather not toss around.

Having to go through another year of Obama’s brand of “leadership” is depressing enough. The thought of replacing him with a policy clone brings nightmares. We can do better, and we must.

The Trump Card

July 21, 2015

According to the media, everyone is outraged over Donald Trump’s remarks concerning John McCain. According to the media, the American people would never vote for Trump and if he doesn’t apologize to McCain, he will have to quit the race.

The media, however, has no clue what the majority of American people think. The media has been making self-serving, biased claims for so long that it now believes its own hype. The media has bullied politicians into cowering in fear but Donald Trump is not cowering and not apologizing – and the media is stunned.

Donald Trump may not realistically have much of a chance of becoming president, but his continuing popularity baffles and scares those convinced everyone thinks as the media does. People, however, are tired of the media and Trump’s refusal to bow to media pressure, along with daring to speak his mind, is a breath of fresh air.

Hillary is trying to manipulate media exposure, isolate herself from the slime of her own scandals, and reinvent an acceptable image for voters. Bernie Sanders is moving the far-left boundary even further left, trying to take advantage of Hillary’s unpopularity and the left’s dissatisfaction with Obama’s failure to turn America into a progressive utopia. GOP candidates are shedding or concealing conservative principles as they try to attract minority voters who have been brainwashed into voting for Democrats regardless of qualifications or issues. Donald Trump is simply being himself – and that is intriguing to many.

Openly addressing our illegal immigrant and border problems may end up being Trump’s biggest contribution to the presidential campaign, but it is huge. Until Trump dared speak out, amnesty was THE immigration topic for the media while Mexico, illegal immigrant felons, refusal to enforce immigration laws, and sanctuary cities were downplayed as side issues. Trump spoke openly of reality and defied the media, changing the landscape for the presidential campaign.

The Trump Card has been played against the left’s Race Card and is proving to be powerful. For that, many are grateful.

Let Them Eat Cake

July 10, 2015

There is no Christian doctrine, commandment, or Papal encyclical forbidding baking a cake for a lesbian wedding celebration. Refusal to do so is a personal decision to make a statement against same-sex marriage. It is a distortion of religious doctrine to claim it goes against religion and a disingenuous shifting of personal responsibility.

However, a business should be able to decide who it will do business with as long as there is no legally defined discrimination involved. The two Christian bakers who refused to bake a cake for a lesbian wedding were not discriminating against lesbians. They had served them previously but decided that a wedding cake was a step over a personally-set line based (erroneously) on their interpretation of their religion. They should have a right of refusal and a right to their beliefs.

The two lesbians were familiar with the bakers, having done business with them previously, and knew they weren’t “homophobes” or lesbian-bashers. They, too, decided to make a personal statement by filing a discrimination complaint with the state knowing that the bakers weren’t truly discriminating. Their actions were agenda-driven and displayed intolerance and insensitivity. Not satisfied with the acceptance the LGBT agenda pursued and achieved, they decided to force the issue to legally obtain approval.

Two wrongs do not make a “right”, and both parties in this sad story are wrong. This is a perfect example of how agenda-driven politics has eradicated common decency. Both sides decided to take a political stand instead of just respecting and accepting each other’s feelings and views. It was no big deal for the lesbians to find another baker as it was no big deal for the bakers to just sell them a cake. There was no harm done either way.

In today’s society, the progressive agenda screams the loudest, demands the most and, unfortunately, almost always wins. Oregon’s Bureau of Labor and Industry decided the bakers unlawfully discriminated and punished them with a $135K fine for “damages”. It is not clear at all what the damage was or what the lesbians “won” but the bakers certainly have been harmed.

What is clear is that society and common sense lost, the bakers are financially ruined, and the lesbians get to eat cake.

Underlying Cause

April 30, 2015

The death of Freddie Grey did not cause looting and burning in Baltimore any more than the death of Michael Brown caused looting and burning in Ferguson. Years of excusing such destructive rage caused it to become an acceptable and commonplace inner-city response to almost any offense.

Consequences for rioting have typically been government rebuilding funds and increases in community assistance – along with much media attention. Thus, rioting has basically been rewarded, not punished, and the free-for-all looting involved has enticed nefarious opportunists to actively inflame situations to create more rioting. It has become an industry.

For years the black community has been taught that they are victims and, as such, bear no personal responsibility. Blame for all ills has been placed on racism, slavery, Republicans, corruption, and white privilege – everything but personal behavior. Progressive liberals, aided by race hustlers, have convinced all too many in the black community that they are entitled victims unable to fend for themselves and it has been insulting and debilitating.

Racism exists (and most probably always will) and there are racist police officers who have committed atrocities, but it is not systematic any more than gunning down white police officers is systematic in the black community. Individuals in police departments and all communities are responsible for their actions and all need to understand this and be held accountable. Across-the-board indictments are inflammatory, non-productive, and ignorant.

Martin Luther King proved that peaceful protests work and he made enormous strides doing so, but that lesson is being turned to ashes in the riotous fires in cities such as Baltimore and Ferguson. Protests bring national attention that can produce positive results. Rioting brings attention but it also brings needless destruction, animosity, and more racial tension.

The focus continues to be on police transgressions, but until the black community seriously addresses lack of personal responsibility, race relations will continue to deteriorate, race hustlers will continue to exploit, liberals will continue to victimize, and inner cities will continue to burn. This is not a political or racial issue; it is a human issue.

Deceptive Progressive Hype

March 30, 2015

Once again, we find progressives and the liberal media intentionally misleading the public. The current hype and furor over Indiana’s “Religious Freedom Law” is the latest in a long history of deliberate deception used to sway public opinion.

Indiana’s law simply says that no one can be forced to do something that is against their religion unless the state has a “compelling interest” to do so – and if one is compelled, the issue can be taken to the courts for a decision. This is not discriminatory or anti-gay. It just reaffirms one’s freedom of religion and it is very similar to laws already in place in 30 other states.

This law, like many other laws, could be misinterpreted and wrongly used in a discriminatory manner by nefarious individuals, but it is not discriminatory by itself and allows legal action to be taken if it used in that manner. Progressives know this but are deliberately misinterpreting the law to advance their agenda.

Unfortunately, this is a proven progressive tactic. It conditioned much of the public into believing decriminalization of marijuana is the same as legalization. It caused many to believe there really is a “war on women” and the police are all racists. It made immigration reform synonymous with amnesty and it convinced many that “access” to health insurance never existed for those unwilling to pay for it.

It is now trying to convince us that: Hillary did nothing wrong by erasing emails; Iran can be trusted with a nuclear program; Israel is the problem in the Middle East; Obama’s foreign policies have been successful; Obamacare is working well; Voter ID is voter suppression; and the economy is in great shape.

It is all liberal hype and it only works because both the White House and the mainstream media push it, repeating the hype over and over again until it becomes “fact”. It is nothing short of systematic brainwashing – the same brainwashing we saw in repressive countries and thought could never happen here.

If people continue voting to make history, hype will be all there is.

Our Porous Border

March 18, 2015

In November of last year, President Obama issued a series of executive orders that he said would “crack down on illegal immigration at the border”. Almost everything contained in those executive orders pertains to some form of amnesty for illegal immigrants but nothing in them addresses securing the border.

Obama’s idea of “comprehensive immigration reform” is simply amnesty and there is nothing comprehensive about it. He has no interest in securing the border. In fact, his actions have actively deterred security at the border and enticed more to cross the border illegally in anticipation of amnesty.

It doesn’t really matter whether he is doing this because of ideological beliefs, out of sympathy, or for political gain (increasing Democrat voters). It is foolish and, more importantly, dangerous. Adding insult to injury, his administration continually misleads the American public by stating that the border is secure.

Recently, Chris Cabrera, a federal border agent testifying before the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, accused the Department of Homeland Security of manipulating border statistics to make the border seem secure and claimed that, at best, only 35 to 40 percent of illegal crossers are apprehended. That’s not even close to the 75% being claimed by the administration.

Cabrera further added that to keep illegal crossing numbers down, agents are punished if they report more than 20 illegal border-crossers at any one spot. This dove-tails with Obama’s warning to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement workers to implement executive amnesty, or else. Border security is being deliberately undermined while amnesty-by-executive-order is being aggressively enforced.

Border security is a prerequisite for comprehensive immigration reform; therefore, true reform will not be reached under Obama. Not only is border security not a priority for Obama, it is considered a detriment to his personal amnesty plans and his “transformation of America”. Terrorists know this and will certainly make use of it but that, too, is not a priority for Obama.

Holder’s Warped World

August 4, 2014

Those in public office should know what the responsibilities of that office are. According to Attorney General Eric Holder: “Any attorney general who is not an activist is not doing his or her job. The responsibility of the attorney general is to change things [and] bring us closer to the ideals expressed in our founding documents.” Where, exactly, is it written that the attorney general’s job is to “change things” and be an “activist”?

According to the National Association of Attorneys General, typical Attorneys General powers are: authority to issue formal opinions to state agencies; act as public advocates; propose legislation; enforce federal and state environmental laws; represent the state and state agencies before the state and federal courts; handle criminal appeals and serious statewide criminal prosecutions; institute civil suits on behalf of the state; represent the public’s interests in charitable trust and solicitations; and operate victim compensation programs.

In carrying out these duties, changes can occur, but “change” is not a main function any more than being an “activist” is. Holder, along with president Obama and many judges, believes he is a social engineer who needs to “transform America” into whatever he feels is best. This is a major problem this entire administration has and it is wreaking havoc on the nation.

It is also one of the main reasons Senate Republicans voted to hold Eric Holder in contempt two years ago. He is not doing his job because he has an activist’s warped understanding of what his job entails.

Unfortunately, we see a similar distorted view from defense attorneys believing their responsibility is to obtain a verdict of not guilty regardless of a client’s culpability. It is not. Their job is to make sure clients get a fair trial and are properly represented in court. Our justice system needs a re-boot to bring it back to its intended function. Holder just needs a boot out of office before he does more damage.
