Black Like Her

June 17, 2015

In 1959, John Howard Griffin used makeup and medication to alter his appearance enough to pass as a black man in order to understand what it was like being black in America. He then wrote about his experience in his highly acclaimed book, “Black Like Me”, initiating a much needed dialogue on racial conditions in America.

Today, we find Rachel Dolezal passing herself off as a black woman in order to…well…nobody really knows why but she has initiated a much different dialogue. Masquerading as a black woman, Dolezal ended up president of the NAACP chapter in Spokane, Washington and says that her being “transracial” (whatever that means) became obvious at a very young age when she naturally preferred using brown crayons instead of peach crayons for skin color.

The national president of the NAACP says “The NAACP is not concerned with the racial identity of our leadership” but it is highly doubtful Dolezal would have become a chapter president had her true race been known. She has been identifying herself as black since 2007, five years after graduating from historically black Howard University. Ironically, she filed suit against the school while attending, claiming she was being racially discriminated against because she was white. Perhaps losing that suit traumatized her into becoming “transracial”.

It is more likely that Rachel Dolezal is just infected by the progressive PC madness sweeping the country, the same PC madness that compelled MSNBC’s ultra-progressive host Melissa Harris-Perry’s foolish attempt to legitimize Dolezal’s fantasy. Melissa seriously asked if “there is actually a different category of blackness” or if someone could be “trans-black”, much like her progressive hero Bruce/Caitlyn Jenner is trans-sexual.

No, there is no different category of blackness, there is no such thing as being “trans-black”, and “transracial” is a manufactured, meaningless term. What we have here is a mentally disturbed woman; a PC agenda favoring individuals over the common good; and an irrational MSNBC host.

Pelosi’s Doomed Civilization

September 15, 2014

Vice President Biden’s gaffes are well known and many, often including Biden himself, just laugh and take what he says with a grain of salt. Nancy Pelosi, however, always wants to be taken seriously even when she out-gaffes Biden. The American Thinker takes her to task for her latest Pelosi-ism.

From the American Thinker:

Dressed like an elderly, upscale biker chick in a leather jacket that she accessorized with $10,000 Tahitian pearls, Nancy Pelosi recently…made an incoherent appearance on “Real Time with Bill Maher.” After sharing the apocalyptic prophesy with atheist Maher that if Republicans retake the Senate “civilization is doomed,” the woman whose political party is currently in the process of dooming civilization uttered the following load of rubbish: “Fear is a motivator, and we…” – as in Democrats – “are not fear mongers.”

It’s funny to hear Nancy Pelosi project onto Republicans the very thing she is, which is a fear peddler…This is the woman who…sounded an alarm to warn Americans that “Every week we don’t pass a Stimulus package, 500 million Americans lose their jobs…said that if the Republican’s “Protect Life Act” prevented Obamacare abortion funding, pregnant ‘women [would] die on the floor?’…warned America that if the House passed a bill that extended a federal pay freeze, it would “undermine the dignity” of a job…warned Americans that they should “be afraid” of the Supreme Court…

How Foot-in-Mouth Pelosi can say that Democrats are not “fear mongers” in the same breath as saying that “Civilization as we know it today would be in jeopardy if the Republicans win the Senate” does illustrate a level of cluelessness on Nancy’s part that is quite impressive.

Obama’s One-Way Fantasy Street

August 11, 2014

Obama continues to travel on a one-way fantasy street where nothing bad is his fault and everything good that happens (which is very little lately) is his doing. It is going to be very hard for even hard-core believers and the media (redundant?) to go down that street with him this time.

Obama campaigned on ending the Iraq War and bringing home ALL of our troops. It was his signature promise as he blamed Bush for waging the wrong war in Iraq. He left no wiggle room in that promise and it was as definitive as his promise that “you can keep your doctor”.

After hastily declaring the Iraq war over and actually removing all of our troops, NBC, along with other networks, hailed the achievement while the Obama website bragged about the fulfillment of his promise. Obama preened like a peacock about his success.

Now, with Iraq being overrun by terrorists exactly as predicted by President George W. Bush and his top officials, President Obama is trying to tell us removing all our troops was not his fault. He is claiming political pressure from Iraqi leaders is responsible. He believes we are dumb enough to buy this, and it is insulting to all of us.

Obama made a purely political decision, ignoring warnings and military assessments, to pull out all our troops in order to make good on his campaign promise and his personal agenda. He was proud of his decision and his supporters were proud of him. He made little attempt to keep a much-needed military base in Iraq, believing his soft-talk foreign policy would be sufficient to handle any future problems.

Obama’s speeches are inappropriately filled with “I” and “me” except when responsibility is the issue. He has been so wrong on so many things; his continued refusal to take responsibility seems like a mental disorder. He and his unconditional supporters are living out a fantasy that is jeopardizing the country. We must start turning this around in November.

Rocky Mountain High

January 5, 2014

The Hippy dream of legalized pot has come true. Many who advocated for it are adults and began smoking marijuana as adults, or near adults, because it wasn’t as prevalent in their early childhood years as it is now. Some of them who have been habitually using marijuana for years are easy to spot because of their lackadaisical and befuddled demeanor. We call them “stoners”.

The AMA, considering years of accumulated data, considers marijuana as a dangerous drug and a public health concern. Some dismiss that as “alarmist” rhetoric, the same ones who fully embrace wild, apocalyptic predictions of man-made global warming. Some pretend not to hear the AMA because their dream coming true just HAS to be good.

In Denver, there has already been a harbinger of what is to come. A two-year-old ate a marijuana-laced cookie she found on the ground and ended up in the hospital, sick from the ingestion of marijuana. Pot advocates will say that’s not a big deal because she can’t die from it and, besides, it is not addictive. Though it is true overdosing on marijuana is not a concern, it has been proven to be addictive for some, especially children. It’s always the children who suffer.

It has been found that heavy cannabis use in adolescence causes persistent impairments in neuro-cognitive performance and IQ and it increases rates of anxiety, mood, and psychotic thought disorders. It may not kill them, but it can certainly affect their future – all to satisfy a dream.

This is the “Me” generation demanding the right to do as it pleases, regardless of consequences – and there will be consequences. Instant personal gratification has trumped common good and common sense. Legalizing getting high on pot (smoking it, no less) is considered to be advancing personal freedom (and don’t forget the tax revenue) – But at what cost?

Whatever the cost, it will just be passed onto our children along with an astronomical debt, a dysfunctional health insurance system, a disintegrated family unit, and a dependence on cradle-to-grave government assistance.

Light ’em up and forget about it. Let someone else worry about it.

Progressive Derangement

November 26, 2013

Professor Noel Ignatiev at Massachusetts College seriously proclaimed to his class: “If you are a white male, you don’t deserve to live. You are a cancer, you’re a disease, white males have never contributed anything positive to the world! They only murder, exploit and oppress non-whites…what can a white male do? He’s good for nothing”.

It has been reported that this tirade basically calling for white males to commit suicide was received by his predominately white, middle-class students with a standing ovation. The “Diversity Chronicle” found it remarkable that “a few far-right extremists” actually objected to the professor’s “sound and reasonable words” that “resonate with every enlightened and progressive mind”. Therefore, an enlightened Ivan Fernando from the “Diversity Chronicle” interviewed Ignatiev to clear up any confusion.

Professor Ignatiev clarified: “The goal of destroying the white race is simply so desirable, it boggles the mind trying to understand how anyone could possibly object to it…Those who object to my advice (destroying the cancer of humanity known as the white race), knowingly or perhaps unknowingly, are themselves white supremacists.”

These are the words of wisdom from a retiring, tenured professor in our “progressive” education system. The fact that this is so blatantly racist that it makes Al Sharpton look moderate doesn’t even scratch the depth of its depravity, and our children are being brainwashed with twisted ideology like this in colleges all across the country. This is being paid for with second mortgages, student loans, and life-long savings.

If this is the future you desire for your children, don’t vote. Stay home and let the deranged, squeaky wheels continue to steer the country. The past two presidential elections emboldened those who espouse this nonsense and it is being labeled “mainstream” thinking. Is it? If so, we are already past the point of no return. If not, we may still be able to avoid doom, but the “mainstream” has to vote to be heard.

Miley Cyrus on a Downward Spiral

August 26, 2013

Miley Cyrus, three months short of the age of 21, continued her attempt to shed her teeny-bopper image at the MTV Video Music Awards Show by emulating the sexually explicit performances of those she admires. In the process, she made a fool of herself, proving she is far from the mature, adult performer she longs to be.

The fact that she believes she needs to be sexually over-the-top in her performance in order to advance her career is a clear indication of how sick the pop culture is – and how sick Miley may be because of it. It is also a warning to parents about the influence pop culture has on children and how easily it can erase the values parents work to instill.

Miley’s performance was an obvious attempt to shock the audience as Madonna and Lady Gaga have done in the past. Sadly equating shock with entertainment, Miley may have taken a step backwards, alienating more long-time fans than enticing new ones. Embracing overt sexual display as proof of maturity indicates adolescent confusion and, possibly, a need for professional help. If she was advised to take this route, she may also need new management.

Miley is a product of our sick pop culture, and it is sad to watch her deteriorate. Those who do not see this are part of the problem – and far too many fit that bill.

You Don’t Think We Are Doomed?

May 8, 2013

A Reader’s Digest Poll provided proof that we are, indeed, doomed. It conducted a poll of 1000 people (how that few people can actually be construed to represent the entire country is perplexing) to find who the most trusted people in the country are. The results are just plain stupid – and frightening.

Number one on the list is Tom Hanks, followed by Sandra Bullock, Denzel Washington, and Meryl Streep. Reading the rest just numbs the senses further. If this country is as enamored with movie stars and celebrities as this poll suggests, it is just a matter of time until we implode from the vacuous mindset that prevails.

Think about this for a second. Movie stars make a living pretending to be someone else or, in other words, making you believe in something that is not real – and this makes them trustworthy in people’s eyes. Following this rationale, it should not be surprising that Obama and Hillary Clinton also showed up on the list, though far below the movie stars.

If you think this is just an anomaly, recall that John Stewart, a comedian, was once deemed the most trusted “newsman” in the country – possibly by the same 1000 people polled for Reader’s Digest. Even if it were the same 1000 people, it would still be frightening to know that many crazy people are loose in society – and their votes count as much as yours does. Further proof of our demise is certain to show up in future polls when the legalization of marijuana becomes widespread.

Yes, we are doomed.

Our Disabled Country

March 26, 2013

According to a January article in Forbes, 5.9 million people have been added to the Social Security Disability program (SSDI) since 2009 while only 2.5 million jobs were created during the same period. One in fourteen workers are now on the SSDI dole costing taxpayers $128.9 billion in 2011, and the program is carrying a deficit of $25.3 billion.

A recent investigation found that the federal government spends more money each year on cash payments for disabled workers than it does on food stamps and welfare combined. Since disabled workers are not counted in unemployment figures, the full extent of the erosion of the American workforce ends up hidden from the public.

It should come as no surprise that the increasing number of disabled coincides with an increase in qualifying conditions for disability. Some of these conditions have been watered-down enough to include almost anyone willing to go through the process. The investigation found that 33.8% of the newly diagnosed disabled cited “back pain and other musculoskeletal problems”, difficult conditions to disprove.

Some qualifying mental conditions called “Affective Disorders” seem to rely on a self-diagnosis. These include such things as: decreased energy, feelings of guilt or worthlessness, difficulty concentrating, sleep disturbance, difficulties maintaining social functioning, and marked difficulties maintaining concentration. A doctor needs to sign off on these conditions but has to rely on the word of the patient for verification.

Obviously, the program is ripe for fraud and, consequently, it is rife with fraud. Getting around the system is easy and many alcoholics and drug addicts (conditions which do not qualify for SSDI) find a way in, as do many others. The possibility of receiving up to $1100 a month makes it attractive to those having menial, low paying jobs, especially since free Medicare comes as a bonus after two years on the disability rolls.

The American work ethic is dying and the “system” continues to assist in its death. What was once a ‘safety net’ has become ‘money for nothing’ because of progressive tendencies that put the individual above the common good. The continuous expansion of government assistance programs is occurring with no foresight or oversight and it needs to stop before the entire country becomes disabled.

Mental Illness vs. Guns

December 19, 2012

The simplest solution is to blame guns for the Sandy Hook tragedy and ignore the complex mental health issue that is behind such horrific events. Putting the spotlight on gun control advances an agenda steeped in idealistic, feel-good solutions, so it has become the political football du jour. This easy-way-out, politically-based approach is, and always has been, a failure.

The problem of abuse and neglect at long-term mental institutions was solved by closing them down and “mainstreaming” most patients into society. The advent of psychotherapeutic drugs helped rationalize this easy solution and it resulted in institutional neglect becoming society’s neglect of the mentally ill.

Legitimate concern for the mainstreamed mentally ill was solved by granting “rights”, a feel-good solution still popular today. Many of these “rights” protect them from getting treatment that they are too ill to recognize they need. Legally, these “rights” make it very difficult to force treatment or to get them off the streets where they may harm themselves or others. Too often, neither society nor the serious mentally ill end up protected by these “rights”.

It now seems that Adam Lanza’s mother was struggling against these rights. Reports say she was at her wit’s end, aware of her son’s escalating and out-of-control mental illness, and in the process of petitioning the court to have Adam committed. Adam knew this and had ample time to plan his insane protest.

It has become very difficult to get help for a mentally ill person who refuses help and many mothers across the country find themselves helplessly frustrated trying to do so. Many mentally ill self-medicate with illegal drugs, ending up homeless addicts getting treatment for addiction rather than for their root problem of mental illness. The system gets overwhelmed, the mentally ill deteriorate, and a time-bomb starts ticking.

The answer to this is not easily discernible, but it certainly is not gun control. Although better control of guns may be a legitimate issue to pursue, that bandwagon travels the wrong path to finding a solution to the complex problem of treating the mentally ill. The political issues must be replaced with people issues.
