Orlando Massacre Creates Politically Correct Circus

June 13, 2016

Political correctness fatally struck again in Orlando. Even though it is very early in the investigation into the tragic shooting, it has become clear that prior to the attack the perpetrator, Omar Mateen, was given a pass for his inflammatory and fanatical Islamic rhetoric and behavior because of political correctness.

Fear of being labeled a racist prevented anyone from seriously challenging or thwarting Mateen’s intentions. A former police officer who worked with Mateen as a security guard complained about Mateen’s racist comments and vocal desires to kill people but to no avail. This officer claims Mateen was given a pass because he was a Muslim, a claim heard all too often and ignored by a society mired in political correctness.

Inflammatory comments and actions by Mateen sparked two previous investigations by the FBI but nothing resulted. Law enforcement agencies across the country have become severely restricted by PC rules and regulations forced upon them by a society more concerned about offending than defending. Security has taken a back seat to fear of being labeled a racist.

President Obama, unwilling to utter the words “Islamic terrorist” or acknowledge that we are at war with fanatical Islamic terrorists, quickly placed blame on guns as if the fact that the killer’s fanatical Islamic rhetoric and backing of ISIS was just another coincidence. The liberal media followed his lead by blaming guns, the NRA, the GOP, and even Christians – everything but the obvious: Islamic terrorism. Is it really surprising that Trump rose to be a presidential candidate in this sewer of PC pretense?

Everyone knows that 99.999% of Muslims are peaceful and not to be blamed for the worldwide violence occurring. However, there are 1.6 billion Muslims in the world and if only .001% (1.6 million) share the beliefs of ISIS and abet their violence, the world has a massive problem that needs to be dealt with realistically. Denial is certainly not an answer.

Political correctness is, literally, killing us.

Trauma at Rutgers

February 21, 2016

After a speech at Rutgers University by Breitbart editor Milo Yiannopoulos, some students and faculty members felt so “traumatized” that they held a group therapy session afterward to soothe their sensitive psyches. Yiannopoulos talked about “How the Progressive Left Is Destroying Education”, an opinion exemplified by protesting students.

The speech drew a huge crowd of students wanting to hear what Milo had to say but that only enraged some feminists and Black Lives Matter protesters further. Intent on disrupting the event because it does not follow the only agenda they believe should be allowed on campus, they smeared blood on their faces, screamed slogans, and vandalized before finally being forced to leave.

The fake blood, screaming, and vandalism caused no trauma; simply allowing the speech to occur did. Those “traumatized” did not even hear the speech but some needed group therapy because their ideas were being challenged, exactly what should occur in a healthy academic environment. Expecting everyone to think the same is foolishly immature. Demanding it is arrogantly asinine.

It is a failure of our education system to allow faculty members to advocate and participate in student demands to suppress differing ideas. Progressive faculties have taken over the education system from grade school to college, indoctrinating students with an agenda that now has students feeling “traumatized” by the very existence of a different point of view. That agenda has become more important than education.

If encouraged, the next step will be to make differing views illegal, something already beginning to materialize in schools through various restrictive speech codes. It is ironic that an agenda advocating diversity in all things demands total conformity of ideas – and it is as dangerous as it is foolish.

It is refreshing that at least at Rutgers, many more students were interested in hearing differing views than suppressing them. That could certainly change, and if schools do not stop faculties from indoctrinating students with a progressive agenda, it will.

Obama is Endangering the Country

February 9, 2016

Individuals with connections to terrorist organizations have been apprehended crossing our southern border, illegal immigrants are being used by drug cartels as conduits for heroin, children are dying at the hands of human traffickers, and dangerous criminals are crossing into the United States. Obama’s response is to double down on his open border policy.

The Obama administration has just re-instated a ‘catch-and-release” policy ordering border agents to stop arresting and deporting many new illegal immigrants. Brandon Judd, president of the National Border Patrol Council, said instead of cracking down, the administration issued this order to avoid further embarrassment over the number of illegals not showing up for deportation hearings. Testifying before a House Judiciary Committee, Judd said that “Immigration laws today appear to be mere suggestions” and “that fact is well known in other countries.”

Drug cartels are flooding the border with illegal immigrants carrying heroin into the country, increasing supply and lowering cost. Deaths from heroin-related overdoses nearly quadrupled between 2002 and 2013 and Obama’s border policy is dangerously escalating the heroin epidemic sweeping throughout the country.

It is not just Obama’s immigration policies that are dangerous. He has succeeded in shifting the focus of our Armed Forces onto climate change, a nebulous threat he believes is more dire and imminent than ISIS and other terrorists. His desperate agreement (appeasement?) with Iran has resulted in the return of billions of dollars of frozen assets to Iran that will finance a continued quest for nuclear weapons. He has insulted allies and lowered respect for the US around the world.

On the home front during his administration, racial tensions increased; economic growth stalled; government spending and debt escalated; health care insurance became a quagmire; and the country became further divided. He seems oblivious to it all as he continues to “transform America” according to his personal vision, a vision born from radical propaganda he was subjected to in his youth.

The danger is real, the damage is real, and the denial is real. The “dream” is not. Vote wisely.

Denial Of War

November 16, 2015

After the terrorist attacks in Paris, France’s Le Parisien daily decared: “This Time It’s War”. What, then, do we call all the other times terrorists attacked if not war? We have “progressed” so far that we no longer recognize war when it is right in our face.

War means killing your enemy before they kill you and doing it as quickly and efficiently as possible until they surrender. War is horrifically bloody, vicious, and often indiscriminate. War causes mass destruction and casualties that bring out the worst in human nature and offend all human sensibilities. Reluctance to wage war is wise and prudent. Refusal to do so when necessary is suicide.

There is no such thing as a humane war. That is an oxymoron impossible to achieve. The “war on women”, the “war on drugs”, and the “war on Christmas” are foolish hyperboles that have desensitized society to the true meaning of war. The bullshit of political correctness blinds us to reality and we have become paralyzed by it.

ISIS understands war, has declared war, and is waging war successfully. We have been told in no uncertain terms by ISIS that they are coming here to kill us. They are currently infiltrating Europe through its open borders, some masquerading as refugees. ISIS has not been “contained” and they are not on the run. They are on the attack and Paris is just the beginning.

Our “leaders” have been in denial for years, refusing to even acknowledge radical Islam as a threat. This denial has given Iran time and permission to develop nuclear weapons, allowed ISIS to grow into an active invading force, and kept our border open for invasion. Europe’s denial resulted in bringing the Middle East rampage of ISIS to Paris. That carnage was brought about by only a handful of extremists rehearsing tactics that they are going to bring here on a larger scale.

Climate change (aka global warming) is not the biggest threat we currently face. That, too, is denial. We are at war whether we like it or not and our first step is to kill denial before it kills us. We’ve been losing that battle, too.

Athletic Blackmail

November 11, 2015

When the University of Missouri’s football team joined student protesters and threatened not to play a scheduled game against BYU at Arrowhead stadium in Kansas City, school president Tim Wolfe’s resignation was signed, sealed, and delivered before he even had a chance to consider it. The moneymaking power of college athletics was the driver.

Forfeiting that game would have cost the university the million dollars it already guaranteed BYU for agreeing to play. Added to that would be millions lost from renting Arrowhead stadium and all the subsequent revenue from tickets, concessions, parking, and TV broadcasting. When you compare that with the university president’s salary of approximately $459k, forcing Wolfe’s resignation seems like a sound economic decision, but it will have consequences.

The protesters will treat this as a victory from “speaking truth to power”, but it was blackmail by the football team that did the talking and now, a dangerous precedent has been set. Would the university have caved if the football team threatened to forfeit a game unless Republican speakers were banned from the campus? What if the demand was to provide refuge and scholarships to illegal immigrants? How about a demand to replace every white administrator with an African-American or fire teachers who do not toe the PC line?

Some will argue that this is different because it was about the serious issue of racism but there really is such a thing as a “slippery slope”, and the unleashed economic power of a football team can become very slippery, indeed. Wolfe’s resignation will not solve any racial problems the university may be experiencing and it was forced before allegations, circumstances, or culpability could be fully determined. It was, simply, knee-jerk blackmail – and it worked all too well.

Students and student athletes taking control of a university does not bode well. Holding a school hostage for any reason is just another form of the anarchy we see rising in the streets. Allowing it could prove to be much more costly in the long run than the loss of a football game. We can only hope this is an isolated incident but power corrupts and college athletes across the country are now fully aware of the power they have. Call it “higher learning”, cross your fingers, and hope for the best.

Democrat Debate, Enter Stage Left

October 15, 2015

“Do black lives matter or do all lives matter?” What the hell kind of debate question was that? Requiring an either/or answer is flat out ignorant and foolishly irresponsible. It panders to a political movement that is fomenting racial unrest and tacitly (sometimes explicitly) encouraging anarchy and the killing of police. Lives have been lost because of this movement but, apparently, those lives aren’t supposed to matter.

Jim Webb was the only candidate who courageously broke from the pack by responding: “As a President of the United States, every life in this country matters”. In fact, Webb was the only candidate not attempting to be as far left as possible. He came across as “old school” in that he seemed to have integrity, class, and reasonable responses – all sorely missing in the other candidates. He was surprisingly impressive but certainly not to the far left, so he will be raked over the coals by the media and ousted quickly. He would fit more comfortably with the GOP. The Democratic Party has no place for him.

Sanders was Sanders, a self-proclaimed socialist and as such, a favorite of the far left. He told us that climate change was our greatest national security threat, a view also held by our socialist-leaning president. Social issues, of course, dominated the debate, as they are the focus of the Democratic Party and the current administration. More “free” stuff from the government was offered to entice voters. Foreign affairs and policies, Democrat’s largest failures, received little attention.

Hillary dominated the debate as expected, having little competition from the candidates on the stage. She was not seriously questioned about the scandals dragging her polling numbers down. Her e-mail fiasco was sneeringly dismissed, allowing her to treat the debate as a personal campaign rally, eliciting applause from an adoring crowd.

This debate did little more than show how far left the Democrat Party has traveled. The middle ground has been deserted in search of far left votes. So, too, has the good of the country been deserted.

The Demise of Greatness

September 26, 2015

Is it really surprising that a recent poll showed 72% of Americans believe this country is not as great as it once was? Greatness requires great leaders and our political atmosphere is not attracting our best.

Our brightest and most competent leaders are far too wise to subject themselves and their families to the mud slinging, dirty tricks, and media bashing that has taken over politics. Furthermore, experience and competence mean little to one-issue voters far more concerned with social issues than the country’s wellbeing.

The election of Obama, an inexperienced community organizer, for the sake of “making history” is a result, not the cause, of our declining greatness, but it has accelerated the decline. Obama caters to a society shunning the common good in favor of the individual; a society obsessed with the emotional satisfaction of legislating fairness for all, an unrealistic goal. His election legitimized political correctness, encouraging a denial of reality.

The Obama administration’s ineffective and unrealistic foreign policies produced a vacuum of leadership in the world and a loss of international respect. The White House, once a symbol of our greatness, has become a bully pulpit of pettiness and self-aggrandizement where sniping at critics and casting blame is commonplace. Social engineering is a priority and instead of sound economic policies, our floundering economy is being dealt with by rhetoric filled with a pretense of achievement. Nothing is real; nothing is true.

The building block of our nation, the family unit, is fractured and an agenda under the guise of “progress” is eradicating morality and common decency. Under this agenda, anything goes – but everything is going away. The mainstream media actively promotes this agenda, swaying public opinion toward accepting it by deceivingly “reporting” on its goodness.

If the 72% who see greatness dissolving vote wisely, this can change. Otherwise, this country’s greatness will exist only in history books – if “progress” allows history to remember it.

Let Them Eat Cake

July 10, 2015

There is no Christian doctrine, commandment, or Papal encyclical forbidding baking a cake for a lesbian wedding celebration. Refusal to do so is a personal decision to make a statement against same-sex marriage. It is a distortion of religious doctrine to claim it goes against religion and a disingenuous shifting of personal responsibility.

However, a business should be able to decide who it will do business with as long as there is no legally defined discrimination involved. The two Christian bakers who refused to bake a cake for a lesbian wedding were not discriminating against lesbians. They had served them previously but decided that a wedding cake was a step over a personally-set line based (erroneously) on their interpretation of their religion. They should have a right of refusal and a right to their beliefs.

The two lesbians were familiar with the bakers, having done business with them previously, and knew they weren’t “homophobes” or lesbian-bashers. They, too, decided to make a personal statement by filing a discrimination complaint with the state knowing that the bakers weren’t truly discriminating. Their actions were agenda-driven and displayed intolerance and insensitivity. Not satisfied with the acceptance the LGBT agenda pursued and achieved, they decided to force the issue to legally obtain approval.

Two wrongs do not make a “right”, and both parties in this sad story are wrong. This is a perfect example of how agenda-driven politics has eradicated common decency. Both sides decided to take a political stand instead of just respecting and accepting each other’s feelings and views. It was no big deal for the lesbians to find another baker as it was no big deal for the bakers to just sell them a cake. There was no harm done either way.

In today’s society, the progressive agenda screams the loudest, demands the most and, unfortunately, almost always wins. Oregon’s Bureau of Labor and Industry decided the bakers unlawfully discriminated and punished them with a $135K fine for “damages”. It is not clear at all what the damage was or what the lesbians “won” but the bakers certainly have been harmed.

What is clear is that society and common sense lost, the bakers are financially ruined, and the lesbians get to eat cake.

And So It Begins In Earnest

June 25, 2015

With incredible swiftness (and much help from the media), eradication of the Confederate flag has become the most urgent issue facing the nation, pushing the Charleston shootings from the headlines. The shootings, of course, are being used to bolster the meme of a totally racist America, but the erasing of the Confederate flag that is being advanced, and largely accepted, as some sort of solution to racism is just the first step in America-bashing leftists’ campaign to re-write history.

Much scorn from the left is being heaped upon Rush Limbaugh for his prediction that the next flag to come under attack will be the American flag, but the flag burnings we see at every protest and riot indicate it is already occurring. In response to the current Confederate flag attack, Louis Farrakhan said “I don’t know what the hell the fight is about over the Confederate flag. We need to put the American flag down”. He has been on this bandwagon for quite some time.

It is not just the Confederate flag. The Jefferson Memorial in Washington, DC and many statues of Confederate soldiers are being demanded to be removed. The attempt seems to be the removal of the history of slavery in order to remove racism but it is much more sinister than that. It is changing history to make a repressive agenda seem legitimate. The old Soviet Union perfected it and North Korea is still doing it.

It is also the epitome of political correctness, pretending something is real and browbeating others into accepting the pretense. Obama has been doing that successfully since taking office, so re-writing history and accepting this attack on the Confederate flag as a righteous and necessary move is easy for many. Conditioning has been accomplished, the farce has been put in place, and the transformation is under way in earnest. God help us all.

The Iran Farce

March 31, 2015

No one really believes that Iran can be trusted and no one really believes Iran will give up its pursuit of a nuclear weapon. That makes the desperation in this administration’s courting of Iran embarrassing, confusing, and frightening – and a farce.

Obama has not only ignored Israeli concerns in his frantic attempt to reach an agreement, any agreement, with Iran; he took personal, vindictive swipes at Prime Minister Netanyahu and subtly attempted to influence Israel’s election against him. It is embarrassing to all Americans to see a staunch ally such as Israel being deliberately insulted.

At the same time, Obama seems to be trying hard to help Iran become a nuclear power. The delays in negotiations, including the latest one, have given Iran plenty of time to hide its nuclear bomb-making facilities while Obama continues to make beneficial concessions to Iran. As if that isn’t baffling enough, Obama has the US helping Iran fight ISIS in Iraq while we are fighting against Iran in Syria.

Saudi Arabia, fearing the inevitability of a nuclear Iran resulting from Obama’s negotiations, is now contemplating arming itself with nuclear weapons. The Middle East is on the verge of nuclear proliferation and becoming much more dangerous – with nukes available to Islamic fanatics who have vowed to annihilate Israel on their way to conquering the world.

Obama seems to be blind to it all and holding fast to a policy that is naïvely unrealistic. Regardless of any agreement that may be reached, the inevitable violations by Iran will be handled through the UN Security Council. This is sure to be a slow (and impotent) process that will guarantee Iran gets enough time to complete its quest for the bomb. It’s a win-win situation for Iran and total loss for the rest of the world.

A nuclear Middle East will become Obama’s legacy but by that time, he will be out of office and on the golf course, blaming whoever inherits the White House – and the media will back him up.
