Obama is Endangering the Country

February 9, 2016

Individuals with connections to terrorist organizations have been apprehended crossing our southern border, illegal immigrants are being used by drug cartels as conduits for heroin, children are dying at the hands of human traffickers, and dangerous criminals are crossing into the United States. Obama’s response is to double down on his open border policy.

The Obama administration has just re-instated a ‘catch-and-release” policy ordering border agents to stop arresting and deporting many new illegal immigrants. Brandon Judd, president of the National Border Patrol Council, said instead of cracking down, the administration issued this order to avoid further embarrassment over the number of illegals not showing up for deportation hearings. Testifying before a House Judiciary Committee, Judd said that “Immigration laws today appear to be mere suggestions” and “that fact is well known in other countries.”

Drug cartels are flooding the border with illegal immigrants carrying heroin into the country, increasing supply and lowering cost. Deaths from heroin-related overdoses nearly quadrupled between 2002 and 2013 and Obama’s border policy is dangerously escalating the heroin epidemic sweeping throughout the country.

It is not just Obama’s immigration policies that are dangerous. He has succeeded in shifting the focus of our Armed Forces onto climate change, a nebulous threat he believes is more dire and imminent than ISIS and other terrorists. His desperate agreement (appeasement?) with Iran has resulted in the return of billions of dollars of frozen assets to Iran that will finance a continued quest for nuclear weapons. He has insulted allies and lowered respect for the US around the world.

On the home front during his administration, racial tensions increased; economic growth stalled; government spending and debt escalated; health care insurance became a quagmire; and the country became further divided. He seems oblivious to it all as he continues to “transform America” according to his personal vision, a vision born from radical propaganda he was subjected to in his youth.

The danger is real, the damage is real, and the denial is real. The “dream” is not. Vote wisely.

Marching For Free

November 13, 2015

Free public college, cancellation of student debts, and $15 an hour minimum wage for people who work on campus. Those were the core demands made by students across the country protesting in the Million Student March.

Neil Cavuto on the Fox Business Network interviewed a student spokesperson for the march and it was nothing short of embarrassing. The “free” stuff demanded was to be paid for by the 1% and when presented with the fact that taxing the 1% at a 100% rate wouldn’t be enough to pay for it, the student simply said she didn’t believe that.

Perhaps $15 an hour for students working on campus is a good idea for schools that have been indoctrinating students with such “beliefs”. They could simply raise the cost of the “free” tuition, increasing student debts that are to be “cancelled”. Many students could then begin making money by attending college, becoming “professional students” working toward degrees that have no earning potential.

College student protests used to be about issues such as civil rights, women’s rights, the Vietnam War, the Iraq War, etc. Even when student demonstrations were naively misguided, they displayed an idealistic sense of reality. “Free Mumia” has now turned into “Free stuff”, and a new generation is making its mark.

Reality check: No one is forced to take out a huge student loan or to attend a school costing $50-60k a year; terms of paying back student loans are understood and agreed upon up front; the amount of a loan is as important a decision as is the choice of school to attend; degrees in Parks Recreation, Fine Arts, or Liberal Arts from Ivy League schools do not increase employment opportunities or command higher salaries if a job can be found; college isn’t for everyone; and “free” stuff is not free.

Perhaps that is too harsh to hear for a generation used to: Not being graded; not hearing “no”; being told they are all great; playing soccer with no score-keeping; getting participation trophies; posting selfies on Facebook; wearing helmets and knee pads on tricycles; government freebies; parent’s providing health care until the age of 26; mood altering medication; political correctness; and rights without responsibility.

Reality scan be tough to take – as tough as watching the Million Student March.

Denying Threats

October 5, 2015

When Romney said that Russia is the U.S.’s biggest geopolitical foe during a 2012 presidential debate, Obama scoffed, saying: “The 1980s are now calling to ask for their foreign policy back because the Cold War’s been over for 20 years.” Voters ignored Obama’s inexperience and naiveté and he became president with a failed policy arrogantly and egotistically treating Putin as an insignificant threat.

During a recent GOP candidate debate, Marco Rubio (accurately) predicted Putin’s current actions in Syria and he, too, was ridiculed. President Reagan was vilified for daring to call the Soviet Union the Evil Empire. Pie-in-the-sky ideology does not recognize the existence of evil-doers – unless they are Republicans.

The Left downplays or completely ignores real threats to America because recognizing them would result in taking action and that could require use of military might which they loathe. In Obama’s case, it would also mean admitting his weak foreign policies have failed, especially with regard to Russia where relations have been “re-set” by his administration. The Left picks targets that are politically correct and safe.

During Obama’s administration our troops were prematurely pulled out of Iraq; the “red line” in Syria was crossed and ignored; ISIS developed and now violently rampages in the Middle East; Iran received more time to develop a nuclear weapon unimpeded; Putin invaded the Ukraine; illegal immigrants were encouraged to and allowed to invade our country; North Korea increased threats to South Korea; and China increased expansionist activities.

The Left, meanwhile, has concentrated on threats from: Israel; Christmas and crèches; traditional marriage; FOX News; border security; profiling terrorists; decreased government spending; voter ID cards; the Tea Party; a strong military; displaying the American flag; the Washington Redskins; limits on abortion; the police; school lunches; Republicans; lower taxes; the 2nd Amendment; Confederate flags and statues; Uber; coal; the Keystone pipeline; male and female rest rooms; and even children playing tag.

“Free” Community College

January 16, 2015

The very basis for Obama’s “free” community college (as if anything from the government is “free”) is that college has become necessary for all, but that has gone unchallenged for far too long. Ann Coulter not only challenges that idea, she takes a look at the leftist politics involved. As usual, she nails it.

From Ann Coulter

Community college is already incredibly inexpensive. The only thing that will jack up the price is making it “free.”… The cost of a college education has increased by more than 1,000 percent only since 1978…People coming out of college in the ’50s knew more than any recent Yale graduate…They’re teaching gender studies, ethnic studies, moral equivalence and hatred of America…The fact that 80 percent of Weathermen – the violent ’60s radicals – are full college professors tells you all you need to know about the state of higher education today.

The cost of college spirals continuously upward…because college loans are backed by the taxpayer…(m)ore than half of recent college graduates are unemployed or underemployed, meaning they make substandard wages in jobs that don’t require a college degree…Democrats are colluding with colleges to create a market bubble for an increasingly worthless product…Why is the left not willing to admit that education is an industry, just like Lockheed Martin, Enron or Philip Morris?… liberals won’t make a peep about the College Industrial Complex because college professors are brainwashing students into leftist politics…Every year, another 10 million graduates emerge, hating God, their parents, America and Republicans…The education industry is how leftists make capitalists pay for socialism.

Read it all here: AS LONG AS OBAMA BROUGHT UP THE COST OF COLLEGE …

A Failing Nation

December 9, 2014

There are almost 1 million military veterans with a disability rating of 70% or more. Many of them are being neglected, mistreated, or ignored by an incompetent Veteran’s Administration that is wasting taxpayer money. Private organizations are raising money to provide these veterans with the help our government should, but doesn’t, provide.

It is a disgrace and an insult to military veterans who put their lives on the line. Every single citizen should be embarrassed and enraged that our government does not adequately provide for those who protected the freedom that so many take for granted.

As if that isn’t bad enough, there are 45.3 million Americans living in poverty, an estimated 610,000 going homeless each night, and an estimated 49.1 million who live in food insecure households while our government remains focused on and polarized by the “illegal” immigrant issue – an issue that only exists because our government willfully refused to enforce the law.

The GOP just drafted a spending bill allocating $948 million to help poor and unskilled Central American migrants (i.e. 56,000 children who were allowed and encouraged to illegally cross the border) establish themselves in the United States. How about getting our own citizens, and particularly our veterans, established first? Shouldn’t that be our priority?

A nation that fails its veterans is a nation failing – period. We are failing and far too many don’t see it, don’t care, or don’t want to know. It is pathetic.

The ObamaCar – Another Ideological Failure

December 6, 2014

Michelle Malkin informs us that Obama’s predicted 1 million electric cars on the road by 2015 will fall about 826,00 cars short of the target. Obama’s pie-in-the-sky green agenda dumped lots of stimulus money into electric cars (or, as they should be labeled, ObamaCars) and the “consensus” is that it has been an economic failure – one of many.

Much of the current failure of electric cars to catch on is due to cost and the difficulty of producing efficient batteries. The Obama administration dumped $2 billion stimulus dollars into new battery companies in the “hope” they would produce a breakthrough to help fill the roads with his electric cars. That, too, failed.

Fisker Automotive, which received a $500 million stimulus loan to produce electric cars (in Finland, not in the USA), went bankrupt last year, adding to the long list of stimulus failures. After bailing out GM, Obama praised the Chevy Volt like a new car dealer, making a campaign promise to buy one after leaving office. His campaign promises, however, have flopped as badly as sales of the Chevy Volt, so don’t hold your breath.

Electric cars aren’t a bad idea and they do work, but they are not far enough along in their development to be our main mode of transportation. Progressives, who “know” what’s best for everyone, are pushing (forcing?) these cars on us for our own good. They don’t care about cost, efficiency, practicality, or anything else that doesn’t fit their beliefs.

Obama’s entire green agenda has been based on what “should” be and not what “is” and cost means nothing because it’s only government money. If the dream fails, it’s no big deal. He’ll be out of office soon enough and cruising down the highway in his brand new Chevy Volt – given to him, free, by GM. At least he won’t have to drive a Fisker.

Another daydream; another dollar…make that a trillion dollars – and counting.

Hillary Economics

October 26, 2014

Hillary’s attempt to distance herself from Obama as she campaigns for the White House took an odd turn this week. In essence, she agreed with and furthered Obama’s claim that “If you’ve got a business – you didn’t’ build that – Somebody else made that happen” by stating: “Don’t let anybody tell you that it’s corporations and businesses that create jobs.”

This is the same Obama narrative that government is great, provides everything good, and more government will be good for the economy. She furthered that narrative by stating raising the minimum wage doesn’t cost jobs, it leads to job gains.

It is a myth that one of the government’s functions is to create jobs. Growing the government larger, of course, creates government jobs, but that doesn’t help the economy recover because those jobs depend on taxes paid by people with non-government jobs. Government growth cannot be sustained that way and the economy cannot recover that way. Minimum wage increases do not create jobs, especially in the short run. If we fail to help the economy in the short run when it is failing so badly, there may be no long run.

Hillary economics looks a lot like Obama economics. Hillary is not the answer just as Obama has not been the answer. The answer is a change in direction from top to bottom. Vote wisely.

Obama is Going Down in Flames

June 5, 2014

Releasing five hardcore terrorists from GITMO in exchange for an anti-American deserter was a flagrant display of cluelessness and an arrogant (possibly illegal) snub of Congress. It was done with the air of an emperor having his way and caring little of what peons think. Worse than that, it was dangerous since those terrorists are almost certain to return to killing.

Susan Rice praising Bowe Bergdahl as having “served the United States with honor and distinction” was a further display of how out-of-touch this administration really is. Rice should have been hidden away after delivering the Benghazi video narrative that destroyed her credibility and embarrassed the White House. Instead, she was brought out to deliver another false statement as if we are too stupid to notice.

This comes on the heels of the VA scandal that has some Democrats finally peeking out from behind idealistic blinders at the reality of the Obama administration. It has seriously disturbed many Democrat campaign balancing acts of trying to separate oneself from Obama while pretending Obamacare (ACA) is a success.

Obama’s failed foreign policies have severely reduced America’s standing in the world. His failed economic policies have produced an astronomical debt, wasted an enormous amount of money, and solidified unemployment to the point of eradicating the American Dream. His failed campaign promises have destroyed his credibility and increased distrust of government.

The bubble has burst and Obama is going down in flames. Polls show a continuous decline in public approval as scandal after scandal pop up like a whac-a-mole arcade game. He cannot click his heels and return to a sycophantic Congress backing everything he does, but it seems he no longer cares and has resigned himself to do whatever he wishes for the duration of his term.

Unfortunately, that duration is long enough for his runaway administration to do much more damage. His going down in flames has set fire to the entire country. The coming November elections could distinguish many of those fires and stop us from becoming a pile of ashes. Vote wisely.

Common Sense Takes a Hike in Seattle

June 4, 2014

Washington State has the highest state minimum wage at $9.32 an hour, but the Seattle city council decided that $15 an hour is better. So, the road to hell received a new paving block with the good intention of a more than 50% increase in Seattle’s minimum wage. This feel-good, idealistic ordinance will have unintended consequences and the dominoes will begin falling.

The first domino to fall will wipe out some minimum wage jobs, hurting many who were supposed to be helped by this ordinance. Employers will have to cover the cost of this wage hike by eliminating jobs and increasing the work load for others. They will also think twice before bringing on new hires at any wage level.

Some adult minimum wage workers will be replaced with teens who are allowed by this ordinance to be paid less than $15 an hour. Families desperately dependent on an adult minimum wage earner will suffer and the cost of welfare and unemployment benefits will rise (tax increase on the horizon?). The replacement of adults with teens will also bring a lower level of competence to those jobs, resulting in reduced quality, productivity, and customer satisfaction.

Skilled workers now making $15 an hour will demand a raise – and rightly so. It would be an insult for an experienced, skilled worker to make the same hourly wage as a burger-flipper. Unions will certainly back up this demand and wages across the board will increase accordingly. As wages increase, so will prices – on everything.

Some workers will benefit from this increase, but a rising cost of living and the economic effect of other falling dominoes will make that short-lived. The idea that this will help the overall economy is similar to that of Obamacare lowering insurance premiums: Wishful thinking.

Believing something will happen does not make it so, and short-term “feel good” actions have long-term consequences. Socialist Seattle City Council member Kshama Sawant gleefully tells us: “$15 in Seattle is just the beginning.” Some, however, believe it may be the beginning of the end.

Naughton Challenges Fitzpatrick

April 24, 2014

Shaugnessy Naughton is running for Congress in the 8th District against Mike Fitzpatrick. In a guest opinion in the BCCT she laid out her “progressive platform” that contained very little detail but one: spend, spend, spend. That, of course, means more government spending.

The need for jobs, of course, ends up on every politician’s agenda, but the idea that government creates jobs is a progressive idea that is false. Government is not supposed to create jobs. It is only expected to help build an atmosphere where jobs can be created by private industry.

Naughton’s self-proclaimed “forward thinking attitude” was explained with all the right buzz words: investing in the future, investing in the infrastructure, investing in education and science and technology, modernizing transportation, raising the minimum wage, etc. How all this investing is to be paid for is left unsaid.

There is nothing wrong with investing, but “progressive” spending is at an all-time high and we are getting very little bang for the buck – and our children are being saddled with the bill. A little “forward thinking” a few years ago could have stopped Obamacare from being rashly devised and rammed through Congress. It could also have stopped our education system from deteriorating into a social engineering laboratory that is failing to educate properly. Naughton’s type of “forward thinking” always seems to ignore consequences.

Naughton complains about companies shutting their doors, but government over-reach and intrusion bears much of the blame. Government investments in alternative energy sources that have produced little could have done much for our failing infrastructure. Instead, the “progressive” agenda ruled the day and we spent foolishly. Appeasing the progressive agenda has put us in a difficult position. We need a real change.

Nothing Shaugnessy Naughton said makes one feel she is the change we need. She seems like more of the same, and that’s not working. Her science background is impressive, but science has been hijacked for political purposes to the point where it has lost credibility, especially when cited by politicians. We need to stop “progressing” and get our priorities straight. Then, maybe real progress can be made.
