Denying Threats

October 5, 2015

When Romney said that Russia is the U.S.’s biggest geopolitical foe during a 2012 presidential debate, Obama scoffed, saying: “The 1980s are now calling to ask for their foreign policy back because the Cold War’s been over for 20 years.” Voters ignored Obama’s inexperience and naiveté and he became president with a failed policy arrogantly and egotistically treating Putin as an insignificant threat.

During a recent GOP candidate debate, Marco Rubio (accurately) predicted Putin’s current actions in Syria and he, too, was ridiculed. President Reagan was vilified for daring to call the Soviet Union the Evil Empire. Pie-in-the-sky ideology does not recognize the existence of evil-doers – unless they are Republicans.

The Left downplays or completely ignores real threats to America because recognizing them would result in taking action and that could require use of military might which they loathe. In Obama’s case, it would also mean admitting his weak foreign policies have failed, especially with regard to Russia where relations have been “re-set” by his administration. The Left picks targets that are politically correct and safe.

During Obama’s administration our troops were prematurely pulled out of Iraq; the “red line” in Syria was crossed and ignored; ISIS developed and now violently rampages in the Middle East; Iran received more time to develop a nuclear weapon unimpeded; Putin invaded the Ukraine; illegal immigrants were encouraged to and allowed to invade our country; North Korea increased threats to South Korea; and China increased expansionist activities.

The Left, meanwhile, has concentrated on threats from: Israel; Christmas and crèches; traditional marriage; FOX News; border security; profiling terrorists; decreased government spending; voter ID cards; the Tea Party; a strong military; displaying the American flag; the Washington Redskins; limits on abortion; the police; school lunches; Republicans; lower taxes; the 2nd Amendment; Confederate flags and statues; Uber; coal; the Keystone pipeline; male and female rest rooms; and even children playing tag.

Feeling Safe?

PC Revision of History

September 8, 2015

More and more, the progressive left is emulating a repressive regime such as the old Soviet Union, North Korea, or Iran. It is not only speech and thought they are trying to curtail, control, and dictate, they are attempting to re-write history to match their fantasy version of reality.

Michael Todd Landis, an Assistant Professor of History at Tarleton State University is taking the current targeting of the Confederate flag to a new level by attempting to change our language and even our very understanding of the Civil War. With his PC rhetorical changes, Landis rivals the old Soviet Union in revising history.

Landis wants to eradicate perfectly understandable and appropriate words and terms from the era such as “Negroes, “suffragates”, “war between the states”, and even the word “Union” describing the northern side. His suggestion of replacing the “Compromise of 1850” with “Appeasement of 1850” sounds like it comes from a Saturday Night Live skit but, sadly, Landis is all too serious.

In his progressive PC world, “plantations” should become “labor camps”, “slave-owners” should become “enslavers”, and “Union” should just become “The United States”, thus, wiping out even a hint of the South’s place in history. He claims that these offensive terms “obscure rather than illuminate”, but his ideas do nothing but obscure reality.

It is true that history is often distorted and written by victors. Errors of that sort can and often should be corrected, but changing the language of the time to appease those today who are offended by everything is pure foolishness.

The erroneous goal of political correctness is to “correct” history, language, perceptions, and even thoughts. “Correct” in this context does not mean making it free from error; it means setting it right – and therein is the problem. The PC police are setting it right for whom? For Landis, it is for him and only those who think like he does. We can only hope that is a very small minority.

And So It Begins In Earnest

June 25, 2015

With incredible swiftness (and much help from the media), eradication of the Confederate flag has become the most urgent issue facing the nation, pushing the Charleston shootings from the headlines. The shootings, of course, are being used to bolster the meme of a totally racist America, but the erasing of the Confederate flag that is being advanced, and largely accepted, as some sort of solution to racism is just the first step in America-bashing leftists’ campaign to re-write history.

Much scorn from the left is being heaped upon Rush Limbaugh for his prediction that the next flag to come under attack will be the American flag, but the flag burnings we see at every protest and riot indicate it is already occurring. In response to the current Confederate flag attack, Louis Farrakhan said “I don’t know what the hell the fight is about over the Confederate flag. We need to put the American flag down”. He has been on this bandwagon for quite some time.

It is not just the Confederate flag. The Jefferson Memorial in Washington, DC and many statues of Confederate soldiers are being demanded to be removed. The attempt seems to be the removal of the history of slavery in order to remove racism but it is much more sinister than that. It is changing history to make a repressive agenda seem legitimate. The old Soviet Union perfected it and North Korea is still doing it.

It is also the epitome of political correctness, pretending something is real and browbeating others into accepting the pretense. Obama has been doing that successfully since taking office, so re-writing history and accepting this attack on the Confederate flag as a righteous and necessary move is easy for many. Conditioning has been accomplished, the farce has been put in place, and the transformation is under way in earnest. God help us all.

Who Will Win?

August 10, 2014

The battle between good and evil never ends and it is always hard to predict the winner of any single clash. However, the current trend of politically indoctrinating children does not bode well for the success of good.

In the Middle East, children are being taught to hate Jews and continue jihad against the Western World. They are being inundated with lies and distortions that condition them to a future life of violence and hate. Children will learn whatever they are taught and they are being taught to kill and die for jihad. There is no hope for peace when generations continue this senselessness violence.

In North Korea, the same type of indoctrination takes place and children are brainwashed into believing all they are told about the outside world. The total control North Korea has over communications keeps people in the dark, often literally, and children are taught to fear and hate everything outside the country. It is hard to break that cycle when it is government controlled.

Here in the United States, our children are also being indoctrinated. Our schools are dominated and controlled by progressive liberals who believe social justice is more important than basic education. Our children are being inundated with the ideology of moral equivalence that scorns judgment of other cultures, even those based on violence. With the line between good and evil erased, our children will not even know they are in a battle when they reach adulthood. How, then, can they win?

Currently, the trend in schools is to teach history based on this moral equivalence, ignoring our country’s incredible contributions to the world and concentrating on our mistakes and “atrocities”. This is a deliberate attempt to reduce the standing of the US as the leader of the free world and to level the international playing field. Our children are being conditioned to actively pursue this, so who will stand against those being taught to kill and dominate?

Much of the free world has become dependent on US leadership and military strength. Our current administration has backed away from this responsibility and world chaos is increasing as a result. If our children continue to be taught moral equivalence while other children are taught the “righteousness” of their violence and killing, who do you think has a better chance of winning the battle between good and evil?

Your vote counts and it is the only way to secure the future for our children. Social justice will be meaningless if evil triumphs.

Fear Not – Biden’s Coming

March 19, 2014

Eastern Europe is now experiencing, up close, the consequences of a weak American president. President Obama, hailed as a breath of fresh air and destined to drag the United States into the “enlightened” world, was expected to be a great “Uniter” using nothing more than touchy-feely rhetoric. The bad guys didn’t buy it.

Obama’s foreign policy has been centered on making friends with bad guys, alienating good guys, and using words as a deterrent. Israel no longer considers us a reliable ally and has accused the United States of projecting weakness internationally. Russia’s deputy prime minister laughed at Obama’s sanctions against 11 people (read that again – 11 people!) resulting almost immediately in Russia annexing Crimea. Iran thumbs its nose at Obama every chance it gets and North Korea is firing rockets provocatively into the Sea of Japan. Obama’s answer to growing aggression in the world has been to make cuts to our military.

To reassure European allies concerned about Russia’s action in Ukraine, Obama is sending vice president Joe Biden, the court jester. How reassuring is that? People laugh at the mere mention of Biden’s name. Unless he arrives with a squadron of fighter jets, a few thousand troops, and a missile defense system, there will be little assurance. It will just be another insult to our allies.

The world will be wrestling with the damage caused by a weak American president for quite some time and, unfortunately, there may be much more on the horizon. The leader of the free world is proving to be no leader. Leading from behind didn’t work in Syria and it is now a joke amusing only Putin. Eastern Europe is not laughing. Perhaps Biden will bring a smile.

Reagan Was Right – Again

March 25, 2013

As a result of North Korea rattling its nuclear sword with long range missile tests and development of a mobile launcher, Obama reluctantly reversed his decision to freeze the Alaskan missile defense system and allowed ground-based missile interceptors to be deployed. By doing so, Obama inadvertently pays homage to Ronald Reagan’s SDI initiative.

Thirty years ago, Reagan was demonized and ridiculed for his “evil empire” speech against the Soviet Union and his idea of a missile defense initiative (SDI). It was sneeringly labeled “Star Wars” by Sen. Ted Kennedy who had no such ridicule when President John F. Kennedy pushed the limits of technology by calling for a man on the moon in less than a decade. Technology is only embraced by liberals when it fits their political ideology.

Both George H. and George W. Bush kept SDI alive while in the White House. Bill Clinton, supposedly a far-thinking president, pointedly ignored it as best he could. Obama is only allowing interceptors because North Korean missiles may now have the capability of hitting the west coast of the US. His foreign policy with North Korea and Iran failed to stop or limit their nuclear aggression and threats can no longer be ignored.

Obama’s distaste for SDI was evident when he cancelled the anti-missile system that was scheduled for deployment in Poland and the Czech Republic as a defense against potential Iranian missiles. Obama caved to the Russian complaint (fear?) against a system that could neutralize Russian intercontinental missiles, as if defending against them was an act of aggression. Consequently, Iran’s continued development of a nuclear missile poses a threat that could have been, but won’t be, defended against.

Obama cancelled several other missile defense programs, causing us to fall behind in that technology at a time when the threat of a rogue nuclear missile is increasing. Once again, Obama’s “fundamental transformation” is proving to be out of touch with reality and dangerous to the welfare of the country. If he finishes stripping us down to the defense level of other European countries, where will we and the free world turn for protection? Reagan instinctively understood.

Obama’s State of Denial Address

February 13, 2013

President Obama once again delivered a campaign speech disguised as a State of the Union address. Obama is good with rhetoric that stirs emotions while denying reality, so those who succumb to such gibberish will be ecstatic. Those who are not in denial will be frightened by the direction this president is taking.

Obama’s denial of his administration’s failure to improve job growth was evident in his calling for a higher minimum wage. If there are no jobs available at a minimum rate of $7.25 an hour, how would raising it to $9.00 help create more? It wouldn’t, and many experts have warned against such an increase at this time, especially since it could result in jobs being exported to China.

Obama further denied the job crisis and threw out another emotional bone to hungry believers by stressing a college education. The unemployment lines are full of college graduates unable to find jobs, so the primary emphasis needs to be on the economy and job growth. Talking of college educations certainly plucks parents’ heart strings, Obama’s intent; but it hides his administration’s failure to improve the job market and reduce unemployment.

Obama declared Al Qaeda to be a “shadow of its former self”, denying Al Qaeda’s continued successful attacks around the globe. Declaring Al Qaeda defeated doesn’t make it so, but it rationalizes bringing troops home so he can cut the defense budget. Obama only cares about his social programs and cutting the defense budget will help him finance those programs. Pretending Iran and North Korea are of little threat also helps him in that endeavor.

In Obama’s eyes, everything is going well because he is, by hook or by crook, finding a way to get everything he wants. Consequences are meaningless to one convinced of superior intelligence, especially when duped voters and a highly invested media ignore accountability.  His “green” agenda has been a costly disaster, but that bandwagon is still full and rolling.

Inadvertently, the president did touch on reality in his speech at one point when he said his spending proposals would not increase the deficit by “a single dime”. They will increase the deficit by billions of dimes and saddle future generations with the bill, higher taxes, and programs they will no longer be able to afford. On the brighter side, fast food joints will end up with the most educated employees of any industry – as long as Michelle doesn’t find a way of eliminating fast food.

Obama is Fooled Again

March 19, 2012

While unconditional Obama backers fall all over themselves praising the latest idealistic attempt at diplomacy with North Korea, Michael Austin over at NRO rains on their parade by exposing the reality of the deal. Obama’s foreign policies continue to make him look foolishly naïve and endanger the world in the process.

From Michael Austin at NRO

After appearing to rush into an agreement just two weeks ago, the rug has been pulled out from under the White House by Pyongyang’s announcement that it will launch a “satellite” into orbit on April 15, the 100th anniversary of the birth of Great Leader Kim Il Sung. Of course, this satellite will be mounted on top of an intercontinental ballistic missile, and is thus a disguised missile test. This promises to scupper the food-for-nuke-freeze pact whereby the North would cease production at just one of its nuclear sites and forgo missile tests, in exchange for about 240,000 tons of food.

What was just a fortnight ago being hailed as a diplomatic coup for President Obama now is revealed for the sucker play it was…Either he (Obama) has to accept a de facto missile test, in contravention of his own agreement and numerous U.N. resolutions banning such activity, or he has to admit he got played…it doesn’t bode well for dealing with the North over the next couple of years…

2011 Media Myths

December 31, 2011

The mainstream media, continuing its backing of a progressive agenda, was successful in propagating several myths during the past year. Some of these myths are ridiculous and some are very dangerous – and they all twist or deny facts.

The biggest myth of the year was Obama’s “winning” of the war in Iraq – by pulling US troops out against the advice of military commanders. This declared “end of the war” by Obama fulfilled his campaign promise but left Iraq as easy prey for Iran. Obama copied the Bush military surge (which he predicted would never work) and gained enough to allow him to abandon the country and declare “mission accomplished”. As a result, Iran will probably be declaring victory in Iraq in the upcoming year.

Speaking of Iran, Obama’s media-praised myth of international diplomacy (“talk softly and carry no stick”) has allowed Iran to advance its efforts to obtain nuclear weapons. Israel is now on the verge of a military attack against Iran’s nuclear facilities, putting the entire region in peril. Iran is brazenly rattling its sword in the Strait of Hormuz; North Korea is again raising tensions; and Russia and China are taking full advantage of the weak diplomatic style.

The “Stimulus” myth continues, along with unemployment and the rising national debt. Claims of creating jobs with the Stimulus bill abound and the media backs those claims with cherry-picked “facts” and dubious polls. Meanwhile, the stimulus intent of keeping unemployment under 8% has totally failed and many of the financial institutes that were “too big to fail” have failed anyway. The resulting increase in the national debt will be felt by our grandchildren’s children and the American Dream has been downgraded.

The great myth of Obamacare providing health insurance for all, lower insurance rates, better coverage, and lower government expenditures is still being floated by the media even as those balloons are bursting all around. Exemptions from Obamacare are being sought (and granted) by many companies finding nothing but economic ruin in the details. Obama’s promise of “keeping the health insurance you have” is evaporating as companies find it more beneficial to stop offering health insurance.

The media myth of Obama’s “superior intelligence” continues, though he has done nothing to validate its existence. The fawning over Obama by many media pundits brings nothing but praise, therefore, his omnipotence, along with his re-election, is broadcast as fact.

Myths die hard – but they do die. Perhaps November will bring about the demise of a few. Your help is needed in order to accomplish that.

Useless UN Strikes Again

June 30, 2011

From The Weekly Standard

On Tuesday, the United Nations again made itself an international laughing stock…by appointing North Korea chair of the U.N. Conference on Disarmament. That would be the same North Korea that…has built facilities capable of producing highly enriched uranium for more nuclear weapons and has defied a U.N. arms embargo by exporting weapons and sensitive technologies to rogue regimes.

Iran’s Mohammad Hassan Daryaei told the Conference meeting: “I would like to congratulate the distinguished ambassador of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea for the assumption of the presidency and assuring him of my delegation’s full support and cooperation”… Just yesterday Iran’s Revolutionary Guards tested 14 long-range missiles that could carry a nuclear weapon, with the express purpose of hitting U.S. interests and Israel, according to the head of their aerospace division.

Congratulations also poured in from…China.
