Berkeley Sets Liberal Benchmark

December 16, 2014

Recently, Filmmaker Ami Horowitz went to the University of California’s Berkeley campus to conduct an experiment. Waving an ISIS flag, making remarks favorable to ISIS, and blaming America for world terrorism, Ami was ignored or encouraged, but never challenged by passing students.

When he later switched to waving an Israeli flag and denouncing Hamas, he was continually challenged, cursed at, and vilified. Students’ hatred and demeaning of Israel was vehemently pronounced while sympathy for Hamas seemed unanimous. Terrorist organizations such as ISIS and Hamas are unabashedly supported by Berkeley and academia in general.

Berkeley, California, of course, is a leader in “progressiveness” proudly forcing marijuana dispensaries to provide free medicinal marijuana to low-income customers, enacting a tax on soda, and putting warning labels on gas pumps. While the Berkeley campus prides itself on free speech, it hypocritically has no problem banning a speech by liberal Bill Maher solely due to his view on Muslims.

Ironically, Berkeley encourages students to embrace everything liberal while refusing to follow a local ordinance raising the minimum wage. Students speak out loudly and protest often concerning political issues, but very few students (14%) bothered to vote in the mid-term elections even though there were measures on the ballot affecting student life.

Berkeley’s liberalism has “progressed” to the point where victimizing criminals, as long as they are minorities, and bashing the USA are automatic reactions. Criminals or murderers who hate the USA, such as ISIS and Hamas, are ‘twofers’ and held in even higher esteem. Berkeley isn’t the only school actively indoctrinating students to sympathize with criminals and bash the USA, but it does set the benchmark for the liberal agenda at colleges and universities across the nation.

Schools in many Arab countries are encouraging students to hate Israel and the USA and adopt terrorism as a way of life. Schools in this country are encouraging students to hate the USA and rally with criminals against the evil American “system”. What kind of future does that predict for this country? With Berkeley leading the way, can there even be a future for this country?

The ISIS Crisis – and the UN

September 3, 2014

On the heels of Obama’s indecision, incompetency, and lack of interest regarding the ISIS crisis, the UN is taking action. It is sending 11 investigators to Iran, at a budget of $1.18 million, to examine crimes being committed by Islamic State “militants”. (Note that the linked Reuters report uses “militants” rather than “terrorists”.)

The UN investigators will report back by…March, 2015. That’s over 6 months away, long enough for an unimpeded, rampaging ISIS army to reach the UN building in NY and report personally before the investigation is complete. (With our southern border completely open, that may not be an exaggeration.) One wonders why it takes 6 months to find crimes in Iraq when they are being shown on the news every night.

Once the UN investigation is over, there are sure to be sanctions put in place against ISIS. An embargo of the scarfs hiding ISIS faces can stop beheadings and an embargo on pick-up truck replacement parts can slow them down, but banning them from YouTube or stopping arms shipments is much too inhumane for the UN.

It is hard to believe the UN could be less effective than Obama in dealing with the ISIS crisis, but it will be. The UN continually outdoes itself with ineffectiveness and its inherent bias against Israel automatically makes it sympathetic to Arab terrorists. There will be nothing good coming from the UN, and certainly nothing at all until its investigation is completed…in March.

ISIS, Russia, China, Iran, and Hamas are wreaking havoc around the world because there is an absence of strong leadership on the world stage. That leadership used to be provided by the U.S. president but Obama deliberately rejected it to follow his fantasy vision of the world. Even if he finally wakes to the foolishness of that fantasy, he has lost too much credibility to be handed the reins of leadership.

The world may have to wait until 2016 for a leader to step up. We can only hope it won’t be too late.

Pathetic Hamas

July 24, 2014

Hamas is dedicated to the destruction of Israel and it will not allow peace to occur until that goal is reached. With misguided sympathy from the media, Hamas continues to pretend to be something other than a blood-thirsty terrorist organization, but it is not.

Hamas spokesman Sami Abu says: “We (Hamas) aren’t leading our people to destruction. We are leading them to death”. What kind of a sick statement is that? Hamas wants death, death, and more death, even if it’s their own people. That’s why they rejected a recent Israeli-accepted ceasefire. Peace is not an Hamas option.

The recent and short-lived suspension of international flights to and from Israel caused by Hamas rockets elicited this boast from Sami Abu: “The success of Hamas in closing Israeli airspace is a great victory for the resistance, and is the crown of Israel’s failure“.

How does protecting innocent travelers from Hamas’ random rocket attacks become an Israeli failure? What resistance is Hamas talking about – its own resistance to peace? How great a victory is it to accidentally hit the airport after firing hundreds of rockets into Israel indiscriminately? It is all just so terribly pathetic. Still, there are those willing to back Hamas terror as long as it is Israel on the receiving end.

Thousands of protesters have taken to the streets in Europe railing against Israel’s defensive campaign to stop Hamas attacks coming from Gaza. Hamas is using a hospital as headquarters and has encouraged civilians to ignore Israeli warnings of attacks, no doubt hoping to use civilian deaths for propaganda purposes. Protestors don’t mind as long as Israel is portrayed as the bad guy.

Pro-Palestinian demonstrations are largest in France where open immigration policies have resulted in the largest Muslim populations in Europe. Political correctness dictates the media not describe who most of these protestors are, but one can easily guess. Pretense is just a sham and it, too, is pathetic.
