Mainstream Media Malaise

November 12, 2016

The mainstream media was projected a Hillary win right from the beginning of her campaign even as she struggled for the nomination against Bernie Sanders. More concerned with “making history” than objective reporting, the media blatantly ignored voters’ distaste for Hillary and all the scandals swirling around her.

Sanders’ popularity was treated as an anomaly and dismissed as insignificant. Trump was continually demonized and Hillary was openly supported and praised. Much media “reporting” was based on the belief Hillary should/would win so conditioning voters to that “fact” formed the basis of campaign coverage.

The mainstream media is now shocked and dismayed by Trump’s win but bias continues as they now try to tell us the “country” is angry and upset. They continue with the false premise that everyone thinks as they do even though the “country” elected Trump. Not only are they continuing to demean Trump, they are demeaning those who voted for him and projecting dire consequences from a Trump presidency that has yet to begin.

Focusing reporting on those who are “traumatized”, depressed, and now protesting loudly (and some violently) is a continuation of the media’s anti-Trump campaign. Calls for unity from Obama, Hillary, and others are going unheeded because the media and the far left (redundant?) never wanted unity. They only want everyone to think and do as they say because they know best. This elite attitude is a major reason for Trump’s win.

Polls favoring Hillary were grossly wrong because they, too, were undertaken and interpreted with the foregone conclusion that Hillary would win. Margins of error that could indicate a Trump gain or lead were never interpreted that way. Many polling questions were worded in ways that were favorable to Hillary while suggesting Trump was a misogynist and a racist. Only those polls showing Hillary in the lead were taken seriously – and they were wrong.

The mainstream media went all in with Obama’s agenda and Hillary’s presidential run. They invested their professionalism, integrity, and credibility – and lost. They now refuse to accept that they are in disarray and as broken as the DNC.

This election result was a repudiation of Obama’s administration, Hillary, the media, and the progressive agenda. A clear message has been sent but will it be heard? Don’t bet on it.

Stupidity on Parade

August 4, 2016

We are stuck with two candidates for president who continue to say (and do) stupid things. Right now, Trump is beating Hillary in stupidity and may lose an election that he could have run away with had he controlled himself.

Hillary’s scandals, lies, and denials put her in a very precarious position with voters. Long before her recent denial of Comey’s tacit indictment, she was finding it hard to become likeable or believable. Rather than admit any wrongdoing or apologizing for poor judgment, she doubled-down on lies and denial, treating the public like fools.

When she began attaching herself to Obama’s failing policies and adopting some of Bernie’s far-left ideas in a transparent effort to increase her base, it did little more than highlight character flaws that voters were finding distasteful. She was sinking and ripe for the taking.

Donald Trump, however, failed to take advantage. He stupidly continued to shoot from the hip with personal attacks and anything that popped into his head on the spur of the moment. Rather than act presidential and show an understanding and command of the issues, he continued to let his ego run wild and act like an ass.

His response to Khizr Khan’s speech at the Democratic Convention was, simply, stupid. Humbly accepting Khan’s anger for what it was, one of the stages of grief, and showing compassion for his loss would have not only been the high road to take; it would have spotlighted the Democrats’ unsavory use of the Khan family’s personal grief for political purposes. Trump showed nothing but a lack of control and, as a result, his poll numbers and chances for the presidency are diminishing.

The GOP has Trump as a candidate because the other candidates bought into political correctness and the left’s framing of social issues as most important – two reasons the Dems were on their way to losing the White House. In spite of scandals and lying, Hillary remains a candidate only to “make history” and continue Obama’s “transformation of America”.

Perhaps we are all stupid for allowing this to happen.

Democrat Debate, Enter Stage Left

October 15, 2015

“Do black lives matter or do all lives matter?” What the hell kind of debate question was that? Requiring an either/or answer is flat out ignorant and foolishly irresponsible. It panders to a political movement that is fomenting racial unrest and tacitly (sometimes explicitly) encouraging anarchy and the killing of police. Lives have been lost because of this movement but, apparently, those lives aren’t supposed to matter.

Jim Webb was the only candidate who courageously broke from the pack by responding: “As a President of the United States, every life in this country matters”. In fact, Webb was the only candidate not attempting to be as far left as possible. He came across as “old school” in that he seemed to have integrity, class, and reasonable responses – all sorely missing in the other candidates. He was surprisingly impressive but certainly not to the far left, so he will be raked over the coals by the media and ousted quickly. He would fit more comfortably with the GOP. The Democratic Party has no place for him.

Sanders was Sanders, a self-proclaimed socialist and as such, a favorite of the far left. He told us that climate change was our greatest national security threat, a view also held by our socialist-leaning president. Social issues, of course, dominated the debate, as they are the focus of the Democratic Party and the current administration. More “free” stuff from the government was offered to entice voters. Foreign affairs and policies, Democrat’s largest failures, received little attention.

Hillary dominated the debate as expected, having little competition from the candidates on the stage. She was not seriously questioned about the scandals dragging her polling numbers down. Her e-mail fiasco was sneeringly dismissed, allowing her to treat the debate as a personal campaign rally, eliciting applause from an adoring crowd.

This debate did little more than show how far left the Democrat Party has traveled. The middle ground has been deserted in search of far left votes. So, too, has the good of the country been deserted.

Some Other Guy Did It

July 22, 2015

A standard tactic used in court by a desperate defense attorney trying to convince a jury that his guilty client is innocent is known as SOGDI – “Some Other Guy Did It”. It is a frantic, last ditch effort to evade responsibility that is as transparent as it is juvenile. When used repeatedly by the president of the United States it is embarrassing to the entire nation.

In an interview with John Stewart on the “Daily Show”, president Obama blamed Congress for the IRS tea party-targeting scandal, saying Congress “passed a crummy law” that provided vague guidance for IRS workers. He doubled down on his SOGDI defense by saying the “real” scandal is that the IRS is poorly funded.

The Justice Department continues to conduct a criminal investigation into the scandal and the IRS internal auditor found that the agency did, indeed, target the tea party and other conservative groups. However, president Obama refuses to accept his own administration’s findings, choosing instead the foolish SOGDI defense.

This administration is riddled with scandal and many of Obama’s policies are proving to be failures but the president refuses to accept blame or responsibility for any of it. His repeated reliance on SOGDI has placed blame on Republicans, Fox News, Bush, Congress, Wall Street, racism, and even the American People for misconstruing his explicit “You can keep your doctor” promise. Like a little kid caught with his hand in the cookie jar, he denies, denies, and denies.

Also embarrassing to the nation is the willingness of his unconditional supporters, especially those in the media, to accept these blatant denials and pretenses. Even the most obvious SOGDI excuse is adopted as a talking point by biased “journalists” to combat even the slightest criticism. It is a commonly held rule followed by his devotees that there is to be no criticism of Obama.

There’s always some other guy to blame and coming from the White House, it is pathetic.

The Trump Card

July 21, 2015

According to the media, everyone is outraged over Donald Trump’s remarks concerning John McCain. According to the media, the American people would never vote for Trump and if he doesn’t apologize to McCain, he will have to quit the race.

The media, however, has no clue what the majority of American people think. The media has been making self-serving, biased claims for so long that it now believes its own hype. The media has bullied politicians into cowering in fear but Donald Trump is not cowering and not apologizing – and the media is stunned.

Donald Trump may not realistically have much of a chance of becoming president, but his continuing popularity baffles and scares those convinced everyone thinks as the media does. People, however, are tired of the media and Trump’s refusal to bow to media pressure, along with daring to speak his mind, is a breath of fresh air.

Hillary is trying to manipulate media exposure, isolate herself from the slime of her own scandals, and reinvent an acceptable image for voters. Bernie Sanders is moving the far-left boundary even further left, trying to take advantage of Hillary’s unpopularity and the left’s dissatisfaction with Obama’s failure to turn America into a progressive utopia. GOP candidates are shedding or concealing conservative principles as they try to attract minority voters who have been brainwashed into voting for Democrats regardless of qualifications or issues. Donald Trump is simply being himself – and that is intriguing to many.

Openly addressing our illegal immigrant and border problems may end up being Trump’s biggest contribution to the presidential campaign, but it is huge. Until Trump dared speak out, amnesty was THE immigration topic for the media while Mexico, illegal immigrant felons, refusal to enforce immigration laws, and sanctuary cities were downplayed as side issues. Trump spoke openly of reality and defied the media, changing the landscape for the presidential campaign.

The Trump Card has been played against the left’s Race Card and is proving to be powerful. For that, many are grateful.

Brainwashed Voters

May 20, 2015

GOP presidential candidates are being peppered by the media with confrontational questions concerning political positions along with meaningless hypothetical questions about going to war in Iraq. Meanwhile, Hillary Clinton, awash in controversy and scandal, refuses to answer questions and dismisses all allegations as “distractions”.

The media is conditioning voters by demonizing Republicans and keeping Hillary untouchable. It is pathetic but, unfortunately, it will probably work. Far too many voters are totally ignorant of candidates and the issues – and brainwashed by the media.

It is now coming to light that Hillary and her lawyers have been lying about her emails and we now know she lied about Benghazi when she blamed a video for that attack. Refusing to answer questions about the “Clinton Cash” scandal has kept her from lying about that, too, but she will eventually have to address it and the lies will come.

She is not answering questions from reporters about these controversies and the media just accepts her silence. The State Department even tried to help her by holding back the release of her emails until January, 2016 which is, conveniently, after the presidential election. A U.S. District Court, however, rejected the idea and is demanding those e-mails be released on a “rolling production” basis. We’ll see if that happens, but don’t hold your breath.

Voters have been brainwashed to believe Hillary is an experienced and highly qualified candidate but she has very few accomplishments. For many voters, just being a woman is qualification enough and Hillary is focused on that. “Making history” is a constant undercurrent in her campaign as she exploits the “war on women” myth, tugging at feminist emotions.

Scandals and lies don’t seem to stand a chance against a biased media or the unconditional love many have for Hillary and her progressive agenda. Obama was kept afloat by it and Hillary seems destined to ride the same wave into the White House. One may hope that will not be the case, but media brainwashing is a tough nut to crack and if the Dems do tire of covering for her, Biden is waiting in the wings – just when you thought it couldn’t get worse.

Hillary Street Blues

April 13, 2015

There was no “news” in Hillary’s announcement to run for president; though the media treated it is as news. It was a foregone conclusion that everyone knew was coming but her announcement may have caused more gloom than jubilance, even for some Democrats.

In the 1993 documentary “War Room”, James Carville sarcastically assessed George Bush as having “the stench of yesterday”. Hillary, one year older and with as much time on the political scene as Bush had at the time, seems to exude that stench along with the stench of scandal. She comes to this presidential race with lots of smelly baggage.

If Hillary was more personable, like Bill, and had accomplishments she could point to, she would probably be a shoe-in. However, she is not and she has accomplished very little, especially while Secretary of State, the job she took to qualify her for president. Instead, she failed with her “reset” with Russia, displayed a lack of critical decision making with Benghazi, and spent too much time distancing herself from Obama by traveling around the world like an uninvited ambassador – accomplishing nothing.

Her latest scandal, the e-mail fiasco, emphasizes her overwhelming propensity for secrecy and her dictatorial management technique. Her lame excuses mirror the excuses she used in White Water, another scandal displaying arrogance and assumed privilege.

Asking voters to once again “make history” by electing a woman president reeks of the false “war on women” meme and it plays to voter’s emotions rather than sensibilities. Her past vicious attacks on the women who accused Bill of sexual misconduct show that she is more than willing to wage her own war on women when it suits her needs.

Considering all this along with Hillary’s adversarial relationship with the media and anti-Hillary tweets going viral after her announcement, her campaign should be a series-ending episode of “Hillary Street Blues” where she fades away forever. The American public, however, is too easily persuaded by the media, so, once again, the media will be the determining factor. Sad, but true.

Our Porous Border

March 18, 2015

In November of last year, President Obama issued a series of executive orders that he said would “crack down on illegal immigration at the border”. Almost everything contained in those executive orders pertains to some form of amnesty for illegal immigrants but nothing in them addresses securing the border.

Obama’s idea of “comprehensive immigration reform” is simply amnesty and there is nothing comprehensive about it. He has no interest in securing the border. In fact, his actions have actively deterred security at the border and enticed more to cross the border illegally in anticipation of amnesty.

It doesn’t really matter whether he is doing this because of ideological beliefs, out of sympathy, or for political gain (increasing Democrat voters). It is foolish and, more importantly, dangerous. Adding insult to injury, his administration continually misleads the American public by stating that the border is secure.

Recently, Chris Cabrera, a federal border agent testifying before the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, accused the Department of Homeland Security of manipulating border statistics to make the border seem secure and claimed that, at best, only 35 to 40 percent of illegal crossers are apprehended. That’s not even close to the 75% being claimed by the administration.

Cabrera further added that to keep illegal crossing numbers down, agents are punished if they report more than 20 illegal border-crossers at any one spot. This dove-tails with Obama’s warning to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement workers to implement executive amnesty, or else. Border security is being deliberately undermined while amnesty-by-executive-order is being aggressively enforced.

Border security is a prerequisite for comprehensive immigration reform; therefore, true reform will not be reached under Obama. Not only is border security not a priority for Obama, it is considered a detriment to his personal amnesty plans and his “transformation of America”. Terrorists know this and will certainly make use of it but that, too, is not a priority for Obama.

Ridiculous Reid Rhetoric

July 17, 2014

We have an urgent humanitarian crisis occurring at our southern border brought on by a flow of (mostly) children crossing the border illegally. These children are not evading border agents; they are searching them out in order to get amnesty and the benefits an Obama executive order produced. These illegal crossings cannot currently be controlled or stopped by the totally overwhelmed federal agents assigned to the border. What would you call this?

The border is securesaid Harry Reid recently. “[Sen.] Martin Heinrich [(D-N.M.)] talked to the caucus today. He’s a border state senator. He said he can say without any equivocation the border is secure.” Perhaps both Reid and Heinrich don’t watch TV, read the papers, bother to keep up with current events, or misunderstand the meaning of “secure”. More than likely, they are both just partisan fools forcing an agenda.

Unfortunately, they are not alone. Rep. Luis Gutierrez, another Democrat, wants us to believe that children crossing illegally and handing themselves over to border agents ‘proves’ that the border is secure. This is as inane as Homeland Security telling us the recent deportation of 40 adults and children (over 60,000 children have crossed in the past 9 months) ‘proves’ the White House means business. It only proves that White House business is amnesty.

The definition of “secure” for many Democrats is as strangely nuanced as President Clinton’s definition of “is”. The White House assures us that border security is at an all-time high, citing the money and guards thrown at the problem as proof. Using that criterion, our public education system should be the best the world has ever seen, yet, many kids are graduating high school still unable to read at an 8th grade level.

Money is not the answer and Reid’s ridiculous rhetoric is an insult – and the whole world is laughing.

Obama Worse Than Carter

July 10, 2014

Jimmy Carter has been acknowledged by a majority on both sides of the aisle as being an ineffective, weak president, particularly on foreign affairs; therefore, increasing comparisons of Obama to Carter are a sure sign that Obama is failing badly. With more than two years remaining in his term, Obama is on a path to earning a worse legacy than Carter.

A recent poll found president Obama to be the worst president since WWII with more voters feeling that Romney would have been better. This places Carter above Obama, making a mockery of the continued positive spin coming from unconditional Obama supporters.

The economy shrank at an annual rate of 2.9% during the first three months of 2014, the worst non-recession contraction in over 40 years. The liberal New Republic magazine, however, ignores this and wants us to believe that a monthly job report for June shows the economy skipping first gear and kicking into second gear when, in fact, it is going in reverse.

Our southern border is being overrun with children crossing illegally into the country because of Obama’s personal immigration policy and reluctance to act, creating an overwhelming situation. CNN’s Sally Kohn, however, assures us: “This is not a border crisis. These kids are coming to the border, they are getting stopped, the border is working”. If this is considered “working”, one wonders what a non-functional border looks like to Kohn.

The Daily Kos, just four months ago, argued that Obama’s foreign policy made a lot of sense and was advancing our interests around the globe. This is the same foreign policy that is proving worse than Carter’s, reducing confidence and credibility in the US in all our allies and emboldening our enemies to act aggressively.

Emotional investment in Obama has blocked reality for many, but comparisons to Jimmy Carter have to take a toll. If those comparisons shred the blinders unconditional supporters wear, they could end up being a positive for Carter’s legacy. That, of course, would lower Obama’s legacy even further.
