Going Whole Hogg

April 3, 2018

It has always been said that “power corrupts” and one need only look at David Hoggs to see the validity of that axiom. With the help of an agenda-driven media, Mr. Hogg transformed quickly from a student “activist” into an angry, self-righteous firebrand demanding the world change to fit his views.

His experience of surviving the Stone Douglas High School shooting qualified him in the media’s eyes to be held up as an authority on gun-control issues and because he is so young he has also been granted immunity from criticism. The media has, of course, shunned fellow students who do not agree with his agenda. Hogg has now become convinced of his infallibility and is wielding his power with fist-pumping speeches filled with revolutionary rhetoric that will result in the sale of t-shirts bearing his image.

Mr. Hogg lashed out at Laura Ingram for daring to criticize him and then brazenly called for (demanded?) a boycott of Ingram’s show. Several advertisers acquiesced to the bully tactic, forcing Ingram to apologize – an apology Hogg quickly rejected. He also had the ego-driven audacity to refuse going to the White House to talk with president Trump, saying that the president should come to him if he wanted to talk. His arrogance is expanding with media coverage.

Eighteen-year-old David Hogg has now attacked or blamed president Trump, Governor Rick Scott, Senator Marco Rubio, Laura Ingram, Senator John McCain, and the NRA, all targets approved by the progressive agenda. He has placed no blame on his high school’s policy of not relaying information to police about troubled students, a policy that allowed shooter Nikolas Cruz to avoid a criminal record and pass a background check to purchase the weapon for the murders – a policy that could have prevented the massacre.

Some may sympathize and say the media is using David Hogg like a puppet but that is not the whole picture. He is a Teenlink reporter for Broward County’s Sun Sentinel who transferred to Stone Douglas High School because of the television production classes offered, so he has been actively engaged in pursuing a career in the media. This, then, looks much like a career move for Mr. Hogg which begs the question: Who’s using who?

High school students are now encouraged to go “whole Hogg” with walkout protests and it is not hard to imagine how quickly this could get out-of-hand. Progressive educators will certainly be selective concerning approval of the issues being protested but they will gleefully allow walkouts. They will be considered college preparation and credits will be earned with each walkout.

WTF??

November 20, 2015

Black Lives Matter protesters disrupted students studying in the library at Dartmouth University by screaming obscene and racist remarks such as “F**k you, you filthy white f**ks” and “F**k you, you racist shits” and getting into physical altercations with the students. Dartmouth’s Vice Provost for student affairs, Inge-Lise Ameer, apologized…to the BLM protesters for the negative responses and media coverage that they received. WTF??

While French President Francois Hollande labeled the Paris attacks an act of war, President Obama called them a “setback” and Secretary of State John Kerry expressed surprise that the Paris attacks lacked the rationaleof the Charlie Hebdo murders. WTF??

Bloomberg columnist Margaret Carlson minimized the dangers of illegal immigration and Syrian refugees arguing that “maybe” terrorists sneaking into the US would become patriotically Americanized and their anger would go away because we have a history of successfully integrating immigrants. WTF??

In Lowell, Mass., Lindsay Miller has been allowed to wear a pasta strainer on her head in her driver’s license photo because she is a religious member, a “Pastafarian”, of “The Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster”, officially recognized as a religion in Poland. WTF??

Colorado’s State Legislature will hold a vote in June on whether or not to legalize the purchasing, selling, and distributing, of hard drugs including heroin, meth, cocaine, and peyote. According to State Senator John Perry Barlow, legalizing these drugs will “empty out the dregs of our prisons and bring in millions of dollars in tax revenues for our state” and “make drug abuse treatment a more viable option for addicts and doctors alike”. WTF??

Princeton students are demanding the university “acknowledge the racist legacy of Woodrow Wilson”; University of Texas students are demanding a tuition-free education and cancellation of student debts; and Occidental College students are demanding campus safety officers stop wearing bullet-proof vests. WTF??

Athletic Blackmail

November 11, 2015

When the University of Missouri’s football team joined student protesters and threatened not to play a scheduled game against BYU at Arrowhead stadium in Kansas City, school president Tim Wolfe’s resignation was signed, sealed, and delivered before he even had a chance to consider it. The moneymaking power of college athletics was the driver.

Forfeiting that game would have cost the university the million dollars it already guaranteed BYU for agreeing to play. Added to that would be millions lost from renting Arrowhead stadium and all the subsequent revenue from tickets, concessions, parking, and TV broadcasting. When you compare that with the university president’s salary of approximately $459k, forcing Wolfe’s resignation seems like a sound economic decision, but it will have consequences.

The protesters will treat this as a victory from “speaking truth to power”, but it was blackmail by the football team that did the talking and now, a dangerous precedent has been set. Would the university have caved if the football team threatened to forfeit a game unless Republican speakers were banned from the campus? What if the demand was to provide refuge and scholarships to illegal immigrants? How about a demand to replace every white administrator with an African-American or fire teachers who do not toe the PC line?

Some will argue that this is different because it was about the serious issue of racism but there really is such a thing as a “slippery slope”, and the unleashed economic power of a football team can become very slippery, indeed. Wolfe’s resignation will not solve any racial problems the university may be experiencing and it was forced before allegations, circumstances, or culpability could be fully determined. It was, simply, knee-jerk blackmail – and it worked all too well.

Students and student athletes taking control of a university does not bode well. Holding a school hostage for any reason is just another form of the anarchy we see rising in the streets. Allowing it could prove to be much more costly in the long run than the loss of a football game. We can only hope this is an isolated incident but power corrupts and college athletes across the country are now fully aware of the power they have. Call it “higher learning”, cross your fingers, and hope for the best.

King Obama

November 21, 2014

Obama once said “I am not a dictator”, but that left the title of “king” open for grabs and all he needs now is a crown. He distances himself from all mistakes and negativity like a king, lies like a king, and makes and breaks the law like a king. Furthermore, his staff, supporters, and the media refuse (fear?) to tell him he wears no pants and treat his rhetoric as royal fiat.

Obama’s latest royal fiat granting amnesty to illegal aliens falls right in line with his disrespect for the law and the Constitution, his disgust with this country, and his intent to “transform” America to match his personal views. If you’re surprised by this action you had your head in the sand for the past 6 years.

The reason given for this executive order is basically because he’s tired of waiting for Congress to do what he wants them to do. That is one of the best examples of egotistical arrogance one can find. Unabashedly announcing that he would wait until after the mid-term elections to do this was another example of arrogance and it was the only “transparency” from his White House we have seen.

He is on a kingly ego trip many still refuse to see but one that will certainly end up as a subject for historians. His speeches are heavily laden with “I” and “me” regardless of the circumstances. All wrongs are blamed on evil Republicans or FOX News and he ignores military and other expert advice if it doesn’t fit his preconceived, personal agenda.

President Nixon was accused of acting like a king, raked over the coals, and driven out of office for far less arrogance. President George W. Bush was demeaned and accused of “going it alone” by a liberal media now applauding Obama for sidestepping Congress and “going it alone”. The hypocrisy here is pathetic as it will be again when a future Republican president follows this precedent.

Obama has “transformed” himself into a king and far too many people have their heads stuck in an idealistic cloud to see the danger. We will be dealing with the unintended consequences for a long, long time.

Media Gay Population Debunked

July 16, 2014

The world according to Hollywood and the media has once again been found to be an illusion or, more correctly, propaganda. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention conducted the first large-scale government survey measuring American’s sexual orientation and found that less than 3% of the population identify themselves as gay.

Estimates as high as 30% have been repeatedly used to shame society into approval of homosexuality and to rationalize the re-definition of marriage. 97% of Americans live in fear of reprisals ranging from societal condemnation to loss of employment for merely voicing disapproval of 3% of the population’s lifestyle – because of a media agenda.

Movies and TV shows routinely present gay families and couples as being common and abundant. Respected organizations from the Boy Scouts to the Catholic Church are being condemned and pressured for refusing to change their structure and principles to accommodate only a portion of the 3% that may want to be included. Personal attacks against CEO’s and public figures voicing opinions based on religious beliefs have now become standard.

It is certainly admirable to care about and protect minorities, especially when they are subject to extreme discrimination and violence as gays have been. No one should be treated the way gays were once treated and it is the duty of any society to protect all individuals, even if it is only a few. We have done that but we are now on the proverbial “slippery slope”.

The re-defining of marriage is taking a toll on the foundation of the country: the family unit. We are now being demanded to celebrate gay marriage rather than accept it. There are some extremists advocating gay marriage for the purpose of destroying the institution of marriage altogether. We have opened the door far enough for some to publicly advocate the acceptance and normalization of incest and pedophilia in society.

The slippery slope does, indeed, exist and the media helped the 3% tail drag the entire dog onto that slope. The CDC survey should bring a more rational perspective.

Sterling Silver Slippery Slope

May 5, 2014

Concerning the Donald Sterling feeding frenzy, NBA Mavericks’ owner Mark Cuban may have said it best: “It’s changed everything for everybody for the foreseeable future…The world has changed. And everybody better realize it. Now you know the consequences of lack of privacy.”

Cuban further warned: “I think you’ve got to be very, very careful when you start making blanket statements about what people say and think, as opposed to what they do. It’s a very, very slippery slope.” Yes, indeed it is. Sterling displayed racism long before this but was given a pass because of his money. This change is frightening, especially with invasion of privacy seeming to be of no concern.

This certainly should frighten Orlando Magic owner Rich DeVos. He has taken a strong stance and spoken out against gay marriage in the past and that’s considered akin to racism by many hardcore progressives. If Sterling can be spied, tried, and fried for voicing an opinion that the NBA considers unacceptable, DeVos could easily be next.

In the 90’s, Cincinnati Reds owner Marge Schott was taken to task for comments made about blacks and Jews. She was punished but she was not stripped of ownership. She eventually sold the team, but it was her decision to do so. Who, then, made the decision that punishment must now be more severe?

Is public opinion, which always sways in the political winds, enough to make that decision? What happens if this society changes? Would it be acceptable for a right-leaning society to determine which opinion should be punished? Will thoughts become punishable?

Slippery slopes certainly do exist and ideological zealots cannot see past their convictions to avoid them. Thought police, much like spaceships, satellites, and holograms, were once the purview of science fiction novels. They may now be coming all too real.
