Read ‘Em and Weep – By The Numbers

April 28, 2016

The following is worth pondering:

Obamacare became law in 2010 primarily to provide health insurance for 30 to 40 million uninsured (approximately 10 to 12% of the population). Today, 20 million are still uninsured, health insurance costs continue to rise, and a growing number of illegal immigrants are obtaining free health care.

It is estimated that 3.5% of the population is homosexual. Only .3% of the population identifies as transgender but there is a push to pass new restroom laws in order to make them feel comfortable. Little concern is evident for the comfort of the other 99.7%.

Concern also seems to be missing for the 8.4% who have a substance use disorder, the 47,000 who died (in 2014) from a drug overdose, or the hundreds of thousands of veterans who died waiting for applications for care to be processed.

There were 12,942 gun homicides in 2015. There are over a million abortions, 41,000 suicides, 47,000 opioid drug deaths, and 88,000 alcohol-related deaths each year.

1.2 million high school students drop out each year. Only 37% of high school seniors are academically prepared for college but 65% will enroll in college after graduating and over 20% of them will take remedial classes.

Everyone from President Obama and John Kerry to Rachel Maddow uses the 97% scientist consensus to validate global warming, a percentage proven to be totally bogus.

The government claims a 5% unemployment rate but that ignores 94 million able-bodied people who can work but choose not to work or have stopped looking for employment. 34% of all Americans financially support the rest of the country.

According to Homeland Security, 99% of illegal immigrants who overstay visas aren’t investigated.

The top 1% earners pay 23.6% of taxes, amounting to 33.7% of their income. An estimated 45.3 % of households pay no federal income taxes.

An estimated $6 “billion” was spent in the 2012 political campaigns when 126 million people voted. That works out to $47.60 spent per voter. Approximately 93 million eligible citizens did not vote.

Jane Fonda Again…and Again…and Again…

January 20, 2015

Scheduled to speak at the Weinberg Center for the Arts, Jane Fonda was met by former military members protesting her 1972 “alleged” aiding-and-abetting-the-enemy visit to Hanoi during the Vietnam War. She said she understands and it makes her sad, but if she really understood she would just stay away from public appearances.

She is lucky to have not been charged with treason back in ’72 and since there is no statute of limitations on treason, she remains lucky she is not being charged today – so far. Her appearances always bring protesters because Vietnam veterans cannot and will not forget her irresponsible actions they feel cost the lives of American soldiers and helped thwart peace negotiations.

Her actions have been rationally considered treasonous by many and the book “Aid and Comfort” by Henry Mark Holzer and Erika Holzer makes the case very well. She deliberately skirts the issue of any treasonous behavior while continuously offering weak apologies. At her latest appearance, she said: “It hurts me and it will to my grave that I made a huge, huge mistake that made a lot of people think I was against the soldiers.” People don’t just “think” she was against the soldiers; her words and actions, especially her radio broadcasts from Hanoi, put it on display. She also remained proud of her “mistake” for quite a while.

Instead of being charged with treason, Jane came home and was allowed to make millions with exercise videos and movies. Her attendance at a few Iraq war protests dredged up bad memories for many Vietnam vets and some of them now make sure her every appearance is protested so that people will not forget.

If Jane is tired of these protests that hurt her so much – that’s just too bad. She should stay home and be happy she’s not in jail. Every time she shows up in the press it dredges up hurtful memories for Vietnam vets. Sympathy should go to the vets, not “Hanoi” Jane.

A Failing Nation

December 9, 2014

There are almost 1 million military veterans with a disability rating of 70% or more. Many of them are being neglected, mistreated, or ignored by an incompetent Veteran’s Administration that is wasting taxpayer money. Private organizations are raising money to provide these veterans with the help our government should, but doesn’t, provide.

It is a disgrace and an insult to military veterans who put their lives on the line. Every single citizen should be embarrassed and enraged that our government does not adequately provide for those who protected the freedom that so many take for granted.

As if that isn’t bad enough, there are 45.3 million Americans living in poverty, an estimated 610,000 going homeless each night, and an estimated 49.1 million who live in food insecure households while our government remains focused on and polarized by the “illegal” immigrant issue – an issue that only exists because our government willfully refused to enforce the law.

The GOP just drafted a spending bill allocating $948 million to help poor and unskilled Central American migrants (i.e. 56,000 children who were allowed and encouraged to illegally cross the border) establish themselves in the United States. How about getting our own citizens, and particularly our veterans, established first? Shouldn’t that be our priority?

A nation that fails its veterans is a nation failing – period. We are failing and far too many don’t see it, don’t care, or don’t want to know. It is pathetic.

Strouse Toes the Line

October 29, 2014

Kevin Strouse, the challenger to incumbent Congressman Mike Fitzpatrick in Pennsylvania’s 8th District, spews Democrat Party talking points as well as a grade school student reciting a poem from memory. Not one word sounds like his and not one idea strays from the party line.

What else can be expected from a “carpetbagger” sent by Nancy Pelosi to make a run at Fitzpatrick? Moving to Bucks County from Washington for the sole purpose of challenging Fitzpatrick, Strouse can’t distance himself from the disastrous Obama/Pelosi/Reid agenda like many other Democrat candidates. He must toe the Pelosi line.

Pelosi’s choice of Strouse to do her bidding is a transparent, and poor, strategy. John Kerry’s Vietnam veteran status was highly touted in his run for president to appeal to the public’s respect for the military. It failed miserably because the left’s distaste for the military and Kerry’s bashing of the military after coming back from Vietnam could not be hidden.

Strouse, too, is a veteran as was Patrick Murphy before him, and it is getting stale for the Dems to keep using military service as a qualifier for their candidates. It doesn’t work. Also, Strouse’s CIA experience may have been beneficial years ago but today there is too much distrust in government agencies, especially Obama administration intelligence agencies, for it to be any help.

If you want to know what Strouse is running on, listen to a Pelosi/Reid/Obama speech and get it straight from the horse’s mouth. It is definitely time for a change, but not in the 8th District where Fitzpatrick has shown the leadership, experience, and competency sadly lacking at the top. Change needs to come where the Obama rubber stamp rules the day. Vote wisely.

Just Go Away, Jane

June 3, 2014

The far left hates the military and this is especially true of the liberal academia controlling our education system. Their pretense of respect for servicemen has been an attempt to make amends for the disgraceful way they treated military personnel during the Vietnam War. UCLA inviting Jane Fonda as a graduation commencement speaker shatters that pretense.

Vietnam vets are, understandably, upset. They will never forget the 1972 treasonable actions of Jane in North Vietnam which are clearly defined in Henry Mark Holzer and Erika Holzer’s factual book, Aid and Comfort. Fonda has offered a half-hearted apology for her actions but it is obvious that she, and the far left, continue to proudly view the incident as a high water mark of their protests.

Vietnam vets have been deeply insulted by Fonda’s escape from prosecution for treason. Her continued movie career and financial success from exercise videos poured salt in the wounds many vets suffered because of her actions. She was treated by the world press at the time as being representative of the view of all of America. Soldiers in the field as well as those at home could not help feeling hurt and abandoned because of her immature foolishness.

Liberal colleges across the nation continually bring in speakers who are an affront to the silent majority and American tradition. The more radical a speaker, the more welcome they are. Students brainwashed by liberal academia are encouraged to protest speakers not fitting the radical mold, so, the squeaky wheel often gets the grease with the cancelling of those speakers.

In this manner, former Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice, politely backed out of speaking at Rutgers due to loud protests from a minority of close-minded students unwilling to hear from someone outside their protected political bubble. Jane Fonda lacks the class to do the same and will most certainly speak at UCLA in a shameless attempt to bask in the limelight of her protesting glory days.

Vietnam vets, understanding that justice will never be served to Jane, would like her to just go away. Is that too much to ask? For UCLA, unfortunately, it is.

Memorial Day Embarrassment

May 27, 2014

Politicians like to make speeches on Memorial Day praising those in the military and eulogizing those who have died serving our country. One day a year is spent remembering and honoring those who died protecting our way of life, but our government and screwed up society have priorities that put veterans at the back of the line the rest of the year. Michelle Malkin provides a few comparative facts that should be embarrassing to everyone and a wake-up call to a society that has lost its way.

From Michelle Malkin

– In Sacramento, Calif., lawmakers are moving forward with a budget-busting plan to extend government-funded health insurance to at least 1.5 million illegal aliens…In Los Angeles, federal bureaucrats callously canceled an estimated 40,000 diagnostic tests and treatments for American veterans with cancer and other illnesses.
– In New York, doctors report that nearly 40 percent of their patients receiving kidney dialysis are illegal aliens…In Memphis, a VA whistleblower reported that his hospital was using contaminated kidney dialysis machines to treat America’s warriors.
– In Arizona, illegal aliens incurred health care costs totaling an estimated $700 million in 2009. In Phoenix, at least 40 veterans died waiting for VA hospitals and clinics to treat them.
– At the University of California at Berkeley, UC President Janet Napolitano (former secretary of the Department of Homeland Security) has offered $5 million in financial aid to illegal alien students. Across the country, 16 states offer in-state tuition discounts for illegal aliens…In 2013, the nation’s most selective colleges and universities had enrolled just 168 American veterans…Anti-war activists have waged war on military recruitment offices at elite campuses for years.
– In 2013, the Obama Department of Homeland Security released 36,007 known convicted criminal illegal aliens…Department of Homeland Security issued a report in 2009 that identified returning combat veterans as worrisome terrorist and criminal threats to America.
