Containment Folly

November 15, 2015

From NRO:

On the very day that President Obama declared ISIS to be “contained,” it reached hundreds of miles outside the borders of its so-called caliphate and struck the heart of Paris…This is what happens when terrorists are given safe havens, when they have time and space to recruit and train new fighters, and when they have time and funds to organize attacks…The idea that ISIS could be “contained” was folly from the beginning…A serious war requires a serious strategy, one not hamstrung by absurd rules of engagement that grant enemy fighters known safe haven, nor can it be bound by silly notions that President Obama has “ended” a war that is still burning hot…jihadists are still eager to fight, and wars do not end when one side grows tired of battle…French president François Hollande has vowed to wage “pitiless” war against ISIS. We must demonstrate the same resolve…

Paris Rally Only a Gesture

January 13, 2015

The largest demonstration in France’s history was little more than a feel-good gesture. It was nice that it brought many world leaders together for a moment of solidarity against barbaric terrorism, but it would be nicer if they actually did something to stop terrorism. As long as political correctness continues to reign there will be no advance made against terrorism.

Political correctness continues to be more important than reality for far too many. From president Obama to Howard Dean to the NY Times, the mere mention of Islam or Muslims in relation to a terrorist attack brings more outrage than the bloody attacks themselves. There is more concern and debate about what not to call terrorists than how to combat them, and fear of offending Muslims is greater than fear of terrorism.

Many otherwise intelligent people have bought into this PC foolishness. It makes them feel good and righteous about themselves, but it is literally killing us. European countries are mired in political correctness and now they are becoming mired in terrorism. One follows the other and until the world sees this, the terrorists will continue to win – and they are most certainly winning. Our entire way of life has been disrupted and our freedom has become restrained because of terrorist victories.

The Paris rally did little against terrorism but it did highlight our administration’s continuing political bungling when only an ambassador was sent to represent the US. Obama’s fear of offending Muslims overcame his fear of offending the rest of the world. Yes, he has done more actually fighting terrorism than those marching, but it was still a political blunder.

Obama’s appearance with busloads of Secret Service agents was certainly not missed and Biden’s absence was more of a relief than anything else. However, Holder was right there in Paris and deliberately held back from attending by Obama. That was certainly a message being sent. Had this been a rally against police, Holder would surely have been ordered to lead the march. Sad, but true.

Politically Correct Terror

January 10, 2015

Reporting on the Paris terrorist attack, CNN’s Christiane Amanpour, wallowing in self-righteous political correctness, referred to the perpetrators as “activists”. One could almost sense her disappointment that France’s strict gun laws stopped her from being able to blame the attack on guns rather than “activists”.

Amanpour is not the only one refusing to give up a politically correct posture in the face of terror. With almost all terrorists proclaiming Islam to be their motivation and quoting the Koran as they slaughter innocent people, many in the mainstream media continue to warn us not to mention Islam when talking about terror attacks. It is the first thing, if not the only thing, many worry about after every attack.

If the Muslim world doesn’t like being branded as terrorists, they need to do something about it instead of just being offended. Where are the protests against terrorists from all those peaceful Muslims? Why has there been no Million Muslim March against terrorism in Washington, DC? Why do we only hear outrage from the Muslim community when they are offended by so-called “Islamaphobia”?

It is impossible to fight terrorism when so many useless fools continue to fear offending those who want to kill us. European countries such as France allow Muslim immigrants to set up stand-alone Muslim communities with their own Sharia law rather than dare offend them with European laws. Our own president seems more concerned about offending Islam than the releasing of murderous terrorists from prison.

It is tiring to continually be told that the majority of Muslims are peace loving people and that the religion of Islam is a peaceful religion – and then be attacked by Muslims in the name of that peaceful religion. Political correctness is terrorizing the entire world and paralyzing us against “activists” engaged in killing us. These “activists” are winning a war that far too many won’t even admit we are engaged in. We need to kill political correctness because it is certainly killing us.

Pathetic Hamas

July 24, 2014

Hamas is dedicated to the destruction of Israel and it will not allow peace to occur until that goal is reached. With misguided sympathy from the media, Hamas continues to pretend to be something other than a blood-thirsty terrorist organization, but it is not.

Hamas spokesman Sami Abu says: “We (Hamas) aren’t leading our people to destruction. We are leading them to death”. What kind of a sick statement is that? Hamas wants death, death, and more death, even if it’s their own people. That’s why they rejected a recent Israeli-accepted ceasefire. Peace is not an Hamas option.

The recent and short-lived suspension of international flights to and from Israel caused by Hamas rockets elicited this boast from Sami Abu: “The success of Hamas in closing Israeli airspace is a great victory for the resistance, and is the crown of Israel’s failure“.

How does protecting innocent travelers from Hamas’ random rocket attacks become an Israeli failure? What resistance is Hamas talking about – its own resistance to peace? How great a victory is it to accidentally hit the airport after firing hundreds of rockets into Israel indiscriminately? It is all just so terribly pathetic. Still, there are those willing to back Hamas terror as long as it is Israel on the receiving end.

Thousands of protesters have taken to the streets in Europe railing against Israel’s defensive campaign to stop Hamas attacks coming from Gaza. Hamas is using a hospital as headquarters and has encouraged civilians to ignore Israeli warnings of attacks, no doubt hoping to use civilian deaths for propaganda purposes. Protestors don’t mind as long as Israel is portrayed as the bad guy.

Pro-Palestinian demonstrations are largest in France where open immigration policies have resulted in the largest Muslim populations in Europe. Political correctness dictates the media not describe who most of these protestors are, but one can easily guess. Pretense is just a sham and it, too, is pathetic.

Socialist Blindness

June 20, 2012

With the recent election of Francois Hollande as president, France re-committed to a socialist agenda and refused to read the writing on the wall. Hollande has been bolstered further with Socialists winning control of Parliament, assuring him a majority. This is France’s answer to a faltering economy, high unemployment, and debt.

Citizens conditioned to government assistance became enraged when cutbacks were announced in France to ease the economic crisis. Rioting in the streets occurred when the retirement age was increased from 60 to 62. One of Hollande’s first acts was to lower that retirement age back to 60, appeasing citizens while displaying his adherence to the socialistic agenda. He even granted more generous benefits to some workers, proving he is blind.

Rescinding government ‘give-away’ programs is always difficult and other European countries have experienced rioting when forced to do so. Nevertheless, cutbacks have to occur and Hollande will have a tough time keeping government assistance programs from the chopping block while trying to implement his “growth” (aka “spending”) strategy for bolstering the economy.

Unrealistic goals are at the core of the socialist agenda and, consequently, blindness becomes a necessary strategy. Reality proves that idealistic goals can never be attained, but acknowledging that would derail a socialist agenda. It is much easier to remain blind, and Hollande will stay popular with French citizens as long as he continues to pretend that government subsistence need not be deterred.

When more people go on government assistance there are less people to squeeze taxes from to pay for it all and, therefore, the house of cards has to collapse. This is very obvious, so blinders are a must for those committed to the socialist agenda. It seems the French have blinders on and have joined Hollande in kicking the can down the road. That road has a dead end and France will arrive shortly. Reality will then take over.
