“So how many black friends do you have?” This was liberal Kirsten Powers’ arrogant, senseless, and accusatory retort to Bill O’Reilly’s assertion that most Americans are not racist. It is, sadly, indicative of the left’s obsession with, and shallow definition of, racism.
Powers feigned being perplexed by Bill’s statement of the fact that all countries have racism and not all Americans are racist. Having no cogent argument against such a rational idea, she pretended it made no sense, became flustered, and then retreated to the left’s standard argument-ending strategy: she accused Bill of being a racist with the question.
Powers was desperately trying to advance the leftist meme that America is a terribly racist country and that racism is systematic. Bill was having none of that and dared to challenge her blindly-held belief. Powers lamely attempted another leftist tactic, ridicule, before playing the race card, but she was beaten long before.
Rather than sink to her low level and accuse Powers of just being another dumb blond, Bill told her he was ashamed of her – and rightly so. Everyone should be ashamed of her or at the very least embarrassed, especially Democrats. It was infantile and intellectually vacuous, and it had no place on national TV.
What, exactly, would it prove to have or not have black friends? And how many would it take to prove you are not racist? How many black friends are in Powers’ circle? How many Native Americans? How many Eskimos? How many Republican friends?
Such is the sad state of the politically correct, progressively infected leftist. It is so very tiring.
