The media is covering the Brian Williams fiasco as if it were some sort of world-shattering event and both sides of the political aisle are piling on. Williams is being treated and trashed as if he is a rock star. Ironically, behaving like an egotistical rock star is what landed him in trouble. Some criticism, however, is taking a different path.
Liberal John Stewart did not make excuses for Williams but he did chastise the media. He complained that the current media’s righteous indignation was missing during the Bush administration’s run up to invading Iraq, adding: “Finally, someone is being held to account for misleading America about the Iraq war.”
Leftist Michael Moore, always handicapped by his limited understanding of reality, took the same approach by stating: “The real liars who were responsible for the Iraq War roam free while instead going after Brian Williams for committing the crime of Faux Macho. This just begs to be ridiculed and stopped.”
Stewart and Moore were not alone in taking the media to task in this manner, but where were they when the media gave Obama a pass on his “you can keep your plan” lie? That was a whopper told and caught on video tape several times – and Obama even tried to weasel his way out of being caught. Will they demand the media take Obama to task over deliberately “misleading” (aka: lying to) the public about his stance on gay marriage when campaigning for president now that Axelrod spilled the beans?
The media is very selective in reporting about Obama, allowing him to rule like a king with no questions asked and the left says nothing. It is only Bush the left demands the media hold accountable. The blind partisanship and glaring hypocrisy is not unusual but it sure is tiring.
